The word "merger" or "amalgamation" means "combining of two companies into one" . respectively. Merger is a fusion between two or more enterprises, whereby the identity of one or more is lost and the result is a single enterprise.. Merger-One company is taken over by the other company and only the company taking over remains in existence.

Amalgamation-Two or more existing companies amalgamates and a new company is formed.As such all existing companies amalgamating disappears and a new company comes into the existence.

Idea - Spice Merger Complete; Telekom Malaysia To Hold 14.99% Stake Idea cellular merged with spice telecom on Jun 25, 2008 2:44 PM ET The deal is finally over with, Idea has bought the Modis 40.80 stake in Spice Communications at Rs 77.30 a share. The stake, valued at Rs 2,175 crore will see a non-compete fee of Rs 544 crore paid to the Modis. Additionally, Telekom Malaysia will not hold more than 20% stake in the new entity according to Idea Chairman, K.M. Birla, in this ET report. MAHINDRA TECH &SATYAM COMPUTERS


Tech Mahindra, the IT arm of auto major Mahindra and Mahindra, Monday won the bid for India's fourth largest software exporter Satyam Computer. Satyam's new board of directors, which met to select the highest bidder, chose Tech Mahindra following its bid of Rs 1,757 crore for 31 per cent stake in the scam-tainted IT giant. Tech Mahindra offered Rs 58 for each Satyam share. The board will now have to inform the Company Law Board (CLB) of its selection. The CLB will will announce its approval, within a week. The new owner will take over the management only after CLB's nod. Engineering major Larsen and Toubro (L&T) and privateequity firm WL Ross were among the other major contenders for the Hyderabad-headquartered Satyam
