LIFE IN THE UNITED STATES BY N. L. CALZADA

During the winter of 2003, a lot of snow fell in the states of Connecticut, New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania, among others. Sometimes it snowed for two or three days in a row. Since the highways were all covered with snow and ice, it was not safe to drive and workers had to stay home. It wasn't a bad time, though. Those who stayed home went outside to ski, skate or simply admire the beauty of a winter storm. Everything was white and quiet. Tree branches had one or two inches of snow on their limbs. The streets were all covered with snow and painted white. Even the nights weren't dark: the snow served as a mirror reflecting the moonlight.
