What is Industrial Corridor


Industrial Corridors recognize the inter-dependence of various sectors of the economy and offer effective integration between industry and infrastructure leading to overall economic and social development. Industrial corridors constitute world class infrastructure such as high-speed transportation (rail, road) network, ports with state-of- the-art cargo handling equipment, modern airports, special economic regions/ industrial areas, logistic parks/transshipment hubs, knowledge parks focused on feeding industrial needs, complementary infrastructure such as townships/ real estate, and other urban infrastructure along with enabling policy framework.

DMIC
Mega infra-structure project of USD 90 billion with the financial & technical aids from Japan. A MOU was signed in December 2006 , and Final Project Concept was presented to both the Prime Ministers in August 2007. Covering an overall length of 1483 KMs,passing through the six States - U.P, NCR of Delhi, Haryana, Rajasthan, Gujarat and Maharashtra, with end terminals at Dadri in the National Capital Region of Delhi and Jawaharlal Nehru Port near Mumbai.

VISION OF DMIC
The vision for DMIC is to create strong economic base with globally competitive environment and state-of-the-art infrastructure to activate local commerce, enhance foreign investments and attain sustainable development.

GOALS OF DMIC
Double employment potential in five years (14.87% CAGR) Triple industrial output in five years (24.57% CAGR) Quadruple exports from the region in five years (31.95% CAGR)

9 Junctions of DMIC
Vasai Road: To cater to traffic to/from Mumbai, other than J.Nehru Port Gothangam: For traffic to/from Hazira Complex, Jalgaon-Udhna

Makarpura (Vadodara): For traffic to/from Ahmedabad, Vadodara and Vadodara -Godhra Routes
Amli Road (Sabarmati): For traffic to/from ICD-Sabarmati, ViramgamSabarmati Route, Ahmedabad, Rajkot and Bhavnagar Divisions of Western Railway Palanpur: For traffic to/from Kandla/ Mundra Ports and Gandhidham Area Marwar Junction: For Traffic from/to Jodhpur area (and lCD-Jodhpur) Phulera: For traffic to/from Jaipur- Tundla and Jaipur-Sawai Madhopur Routes' Rewari: For traffic to/from Rewari-Hissar-Ludhiana/Bathinda Routes' Pirthala (Tughlakabad): For traffic to/from Tughlakabad (and ICDTughalakabad)

Estimated Development Outcomes with DMIC Project


Development of DMIC will offer employment opportunities for 3 Million people with over 67% in the manufacturing / processing industry. In case of Agro/Food Processing, the total employment generation estimated as 200,000. There is a potential to generate about 10 Million job opportunities during the functional/ Operation & Maintenance stage.

Maharashtra Cabinet approves new industrial policy. JAPANESE companies come forward to implement projects of DMIC [TendersInfo (India)]. Top Japanese companies show interests in 19 DMIC projects. Master plan for first node of Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor by January end. Seven townships planned along Delhi-Jaipur expressway. Rajasthan to announce new textiles policy in March. Japan to fund multi-billion dollar CBIC project soon. Government may ease borrowing rules soon.
