IMPLICATION TO THE TEACHING & LEARNING IN CLASSROOM

As a teacher,
do not turn your back to these children when giving instructions. you must ensure that the environment is free from noise and disturbances. you must avoid yelling or speaking loudly. you even have to learn and teach using sign language.

A guideline written by the Deaf

Look at me when you want to speak to me. Even with my expensive, high end hearing aids, I still rely heavily on facial expressions and watching your mouth form words. Dont yell at me. When I say Im a bit hard of hearing it does not mean you have to scream at me. What it does mean is that you should raise your voice a bit more but more importantly, slow down some and articulate your words. In other words, speak clearly. Dont mumble. For Gods sake, dont mumble. Do not turn and walk away from me while until you finish with what youre saying. If you do Im likely to forget you ever started in the first place.

Make sure I acknowledge what you have said before heading off. I am not stupid or slow. My ears are. Try not to take advantage of my hearing loss by thinking you can talk about me while Im present in the room with you and whoever else youre talking to. I can hear certain peoples voices if the voice is pitched just right. Please understand me. : (

SPEECH DISORDER
Children with speech disorder have difficulty in pronouncing words, like the word sit = chit Examples of speech disorder

IMPLICATION TO THE TEACHING & LEARNING IN CLASSROOM

As a teacher,
