EVDO CLUSTER 3A ACCEPTANCE GUIDELINES

July 2009

Acceptance Criteria
Acceptance criteria for a cluster is based on both KPI & Drive Plots.

KPI were included in first page of ATP report.

Plot list were included in second page.

Acceptance Criteria (3A form).. Page NO :1

First Page of ATP Report includes KPI as evident below

All Rights Reserved Alcatel-Lucent 2006, #####

Acceptance Criteria - Page NO :1 cont (S.NO -1) Average Forward Link RLP Throughput :
The forward link Throughput is the achievable throughput of AT & it should be sufficiently high to ensure the system capacity is maximized. Measurement: Drive test Value (FTP) Pass criteria: The average Forward link throughput value at RLP Layer has to be greater than 700 kbps for a Cluster. Also ensure, near by the site good throughput values should be obtained.

Acceptance Criteria - Page NO :1 cont (S.NO -2) Average Reverse Link RLP Throughput :
The Reverse link Throughput is the achievable throughput of AT & it should be sufficiently high to ensure the system capacity is maximized. Measurement: Drive test Value (FTP) Pass criteria: The average Reverse link throughput value at RLP Layer has to be greater than 325 kbps for a Cluster. Also ensure, near by the site good throughput values should be obtained.

Acceptance Criteria - Page NO :1 cont (S.NO -3) AT Initiated Connection Setup Success Rate :
AT Initiated connection setup Success Rate is defined as connection initiated by the necessity to transmit data from the AT to the AN. This is a successful connection setup.

Measurement: Drive test Value through Ping Test Pass criteria: The AT initiated Connection Setup Success Rate has to be greater than
or equal to 97% for a cluster.

Acceptance Criteria - Page NO :1 cont

(S.NO -4 & 5) Retransmission Rate (PER) Forward & Reverse:

Packet Error Rate (PER) provides insight into expected Forward Link & Reverse Link Data Performance of an AT. Measurement: Drive test (FTP) Pass Criteria: 95% of PER Bins should be less than 1% for FL 90% of PER Bins should be less than 1% for RL

Acceptance Criteria - Page NO :1 cont (S.NO -6) Connection Drop Rate: The connection drop rate provides insight into
areas of poor or no RF coverage and RNC PDSN issues. The dropped connection rate is equal to the total number of dropped data connection divided by the mean call holding

time of 60 Sec.

Measurement: Drive test Value Pass criteria: The Connection Drop Rate has to be less than to 2% for a cluster.
CDR = {Total number of dropped connections/(Total FTP Download duration/
60sec)}*100

ATP Report Page NO :2 cont. SINR Distribution:

The SINR values should be sufficient enough such that the AT can request higher DRC

allowing for optimal Forward Link Data performance.

Measurement: Drive Test (FTP) Pass Criteria:

The patches where Ec/Io is >= -7 db, positive values of SINR (at least above 2 db)
should be obtained. Large number of positive bins has to be obtained in cluster specially near the site.

3A form Page NO :2 cont. Retransmission Rate (PER) Forward:

Packet Error Rate (PER) provides insight into expected Forward Link & Reverse Link Data Performance of an AT. Measurement: Drive test (FTP) Pass Criteria: 95% of PER Bins should be less than 1% for FL At least near the cell site PER values should be less than 1%

3A form Page NO :2 cont. AT Receive Power:

Similar to CDMA this will depicts poor coverage Area.

Measurement: Drive test (FTP)

Pass Criteria: This plot is only to capture data & no pass/fail criteria is associated with this plot.

Look for poor Receive power areas & do optimization accordingly. Legends will be
similar to CDMA

3A form Page NO :2 cont. AT Transmit Power:

Similar to CDMA this will depicts poor coverage, Excess Interference, Capacity Utilization & Power Control Issues. Measurement: Drive test (FTP) Pass Criteria: 98% of Tx Total power bins should be less than 21 dBm. Similar to CDMA ensure no positive bins should be obtained near by the site.

3A form Page NO :2 cont. Active Set Size Distribution ( Pilot Above threshold >= -7db):
Active set size can reveal the areas of pilot pollution. Since T_ADD for EVDO is -7db, more Pilots at particular location above this value will lead to pilot pollution. Measurement: Drive test (FTP) Pass Criteria:

The Active set size should be less than 3 for 80% of bins.
The Average Active set size should be between 1.6 & 1.8

can achieve optimal forward link data performance. Note: Throughput reflected in DRC Distribution plot is always higher than the actual throughput received at RLP in Forward Link.

3A form Page NO :2 cont. Multi Way Handoff Distribution (Number of pilots in handoff):
Max Number of Pilots in Handoff for EVDO is 3. Unlike CDMA, in EVDO T_ADD threshold value is -7db due to which few pilots (2 to 3) will be having Ec/Io better than threshold value.

The forward link Throughput is the achievable throughput of AT & it should be sufficiently high to ensure the system capacity is maximized. Measurement: Drive test Value (FTP)

Pass criteria:
The average Forward link throughput value at RLP Layer has to be greater than 700 kbps for a Cluster. Also ensure, near by each site good throughput values should be obtained.

3A form Page NO :2 cont. Dominant Pilot :

It depicts the Dominant Pilot for EVDO carrier observed in the cluster.

Measurement: Drive test Value (FTP)

Pass criteria: Pilot pollution should be minimal & any specific area/region should be covered by its nearby sector only. There should be less PN Ping-pong areas to avoid frequent handoffs.
