Benefits of going green

1. Save EnergyThe less energy you use the less that energy needs to be produced. 2. Save Resources. When you buy products from sustainable companies, that means youre saving the lands where they operate. 3. Save EconomiesTry to make sure you buy stuff thatimproves the livesof the people that live where that stuff is made.

Save the Future If we dont change they way we live in the world, the worldwill makeour lives unlivable. 7. Not only do you diminish the pollution resulting from cross-country supply delivery but you helpsupport the livelihoods of your neighbors. 11. Save Local Economies When a big-box store bulldozes into town, it kills virtually every small business in the area. Avoiding chain stores is another way to promote sustainability. 12. Save Jobs Going green is all encompassing. When the big company is done flattening the countryside and collecting tax breaks, they just pack up and move, leaving entire populations in the dust.Buy local.Save local jobs. 13. Save the Planet You may not think your one small effort makes a difference. This is the kind of mindset that stops a societal movement in its tracks. There is incredible power in leading by example. The more people you influence, the more people they will influence. Get enough people to change and the rest of the world will follow. 14. Save Yourself Do you really want to wake up ten years from now to skies so filled with pollution that you cant go outside? Do you want to die decades earlier than you need to? Do you want your life to be nothing but one natural disaster after another? Do you want food and water rationing for the rest of your days?

Ways to Go Green
PLANT A NOTION "Going green" doesn't have to be a daunting task that means sweeping life changes. Simple things can make a difference. The contents of this list might not be new, but they bear repeating. Sometimes it takes a few reminders for things take root.

RECYCLE GLASS Recycled glass reduces related air pollution by 20 percent and related water pollution by 50 percent. If it isn't recycled it can take a million years to decompose.

GO VEGETARIAN ONCE A WEEK One less meat-based meal a week helps the planet and your diet. For example: It requires 2,500 gallons of water to produce one pound of beef. You will also also save some trees. For each hamburger that originated from animals raised on rainforest land, approximately 55 square feet of forest have been destroyed.

.RECYCLE NEWSPAPER There are 63 million newspapers printed each day in the U.S. Of these, 44 million, or about 69%, of them will be thrown away. Recycling just the Sunday papers would save more than half a million trees every week.

PLANT A TREE It's good for the air, the land, can shade your house and save on cooling (plant on the west side of your home), and they can also improve the value of your property. Make it meaningful for the whole family and plant a tree every year for each member.

FLY WITH AN E-TICKET The cost of processing a paper ticket is approximately $10, while processing an e-ticket costs only $1. In the near future, e-tickets will be the only option, saving the airline industry $3 billion a year. In addition to financial savings, the sheer amount of paper eliminated by this process is commendable.

Last but not least....

SHARE! Take what you've learned, and pass the knowledge on to others. If every person you know could take one small step toward being greener, the collective effort could be phenomenal.
