Design Overview of MWTM in MTS ( Cont..)

MWTM 6.1.1 is used for management of the following nodes: CSG2 and HA. MWTM 6.1.1 is installed in Sun Fire T2000 servers with Solaris 10 as the OS. There are 2 MWTM servers installed, one at each location, Chennai and Delhi respectively. Both MWTM servers have similar configurations. Both would have server-only installations. MWTM servers are configured as backup for each other. MWTM clients would be MS Windows OS. Both MWTM client and MWTM web-based interface can be used for management. The use is left to discretion of user.

Design Overview of MWTM in MTS

MWTM installation is done on the /opt directory. /opt/CSCOsgm would be the directory of MWTMmserver. SNMP trap port used would be 162. MWTM would use default values for 4 SNMP pollers. Log files would be stored in /opt/CSCOsgm/logs. Log files would

be archived for 31 days.

Real-time logs and information is available to the users based on user access. Historical Reporting and Provisioning for both CSG2 nodes and HA nodes is available in current version of MWTM 6.1.1 which is latest version of MWTM.

LMS Introduction CiscoWorks LAN Management Solution (LMS) is a suite of powerful management tools that simplify the configuration, administration, monitoring, and troubleshooting of Cisco networks. Improving the accuracy and efficiency of the network operations staff Increasing the overall availability of the network by simplifying configuration and quickly identifying and fixing network problem Maximizing network security through integration with access control services and audit of network-level changes
23

LMS 3.0 Applications

CiscoWorks Common Services Provides common model for data storage, login, user role definitions, access privileges, and security protocols, as well as navigation and launch management

CiscoWorks Campus Manager Configures, manages, and visualizes complex physical and logical Layer 2 infrastructures, including VLAN and ATM management, path analysis, user tracking, and topology mapping.
CiscoWorks Resource Manager Essentials Provides network inventory, device configurations and changes, as well as software updates, along with syslog analysis. CiscoWorks Device Fault Manager Provides real-time detailed detection, analysis, and reporting of device faults; often identifies problems before users realize they exist. CiscoWorks CiscoView Front-panel graphical displays of Cisco devices simplify user interaction with device components to change configuration parameters and monitor statistics. CiscoWorks Internetwork Performance Monitor Offers proactive measurement of network response time and availability as well as real-time and historical analysis of congestion and latency problems.
24

Understanding LMS DCR

The Device and Credential Repository (DCR) is a common repository of devices, their attributes and credentials that can be used by various network management applications. DCR is part of Common Services and acts as a central secure repository for all the device and credential information. All applications within LMS request DCR for device credential information. Since there is a common device and credentials repository, devices populated in DCR can be automatically populated in different applications. These applications can also update the information in DCR so that the updated information could be shared with other applications. DCR also allows you to populate the repository by importing devices from many sources.

40

Typical Usage of NCM for Network Engineers

Which device configuration changed What exactly was changed in the configuration Who made the change Why the change was made In addition, NCM can enforce security and regulatory policies at the network level by making sure that configurations comply with pre-defined standards. The end result is a resilient and maintainable network that is compliant with standards and regulations.
