PRESENTATION ON RECRUITMENT PROCESS IN

INTRODUCTION: Wipro Ltd is a global information technology, consulting and outsourcing company with 140,000 employees serving over 900 clients in 57 countries. The company posted revenues of $7.37 billion for the financial year ended Mar 31, 2012. Wipro helps customers to do business better leveraging the industry-wide experience, deep technology expertise, comprehensive portfolio of services and a vertically aligned business model.

Milestones of WIPRO in its successful career:Established in 1945 as Western India Vegetable Products Limited in Amalner, Maharashtra. IPO for capital in February 1946. Ventured in to the fledgling IT industry in 1981. Established software products and exports subsidiary, Wipro Systems Ltd. in 1983. Pioneers in marketing indigenous Personal Computers in 1985. Established a Joint venture with GE in 1989.

RECRUITMENT PROCESS

Synergy - eRecruitment System


It has a robust online recruitment system - Synergy, which has the database of all resumes received through various sources. The system does a duplication check at the time of resume entry and at the time of processing. All correspondence from Wipro will be from the Talent Acquisition Team of Wipro IT Business through a Wipro email ID. For candidates in India, Permanent Account Number (PAN) card and registration with the National Skills Registry is mandatory.

The Career Site


Candidates can submit their profile. That is stored in the database so recruiters may refer to it when opportunities arise. Recruitment events that they conduct or participate in are announced on the career site and we can apply directly at the event or through the career site.

Employee Referrals
They believe that Wiproites are the best recruiters themselves and know how to be selective about the candidates that they hire. They encourage Wiproites to bring in friends and acquaintances with whom they have interacted personally. Referrals are not done through the career site or other means such as email attachments. If you personally know a Wiproite, then contact them and ask them to refer you through WipLinks / Livewire on the employee intranet.

Job Portals
They work with specific job portals and communicate only through the Wipro email IDs. They do not post jobs in blogs or other free/open sites. A suitable candidate found on the job portal is contacted by the recruiters themselves and taken ahead through the recruitment process.

Campus/Fresher Recruitment
In India they hire Engineering Graduates/Post-Graduates for technical positions and Science Graduates for their WASE & WIMS programme. WASE- Wipro Academy of Software Excellence.(B.Sc, BCA and BCM) WIMS- Wipro Infotech Master of Science(B.Sc & BCA) Most of this hiring is done in the penultimate or final year of studies. They bring in students through campus recruitment initiatives across the world. In case of special hiring requirements, they initiate special hiring drives 'Off-Campus' for students who have finished their studies.

Advertisements & Web Banners


Their advertisement will be unique with their logo, a Wipro email ID for response and the URL of the career site carried in it. They do not allow partners or agencies to carry advertisements using their logo on their behalf. So when we see a Wipro IT Business recruitment advertisement do apply directly to Wipro.

Interviews & Selection Process


Wipro has centers in over 50 countries and the recruitment process differs in some manner from geography to geography as per needs and the law of the land. Once profile has been received through any of the mentioned sources/channels and shortlisted by recruiters, we will be called for the interview process followed by selection. We are required to attend technical/functional interviews as well as final discussions with the Talent Acquisition Team.

As part of the joining process we are required to submit various documents and be part of a background verification process. Document submission and background verification are conducted at different stages according to the recruitment process of a particular location. On our acceptance and joining, they will commence our professional journey at Wipro with induction program.

Fraud Awareness
Wipro does not entertain payment of any kind from candidates for employment. Some common attributes of these fake job offer emails are: They come from public email ids. They claim to come from 'Wipro Group of Industries Limited' or some such non-existent organization but claiming to carry the name of 'Wipro'. They call for cash deposit into a designated bank account. To make the offer seem authentic, the email will call for submission of 'qualification documents', 'experience certificate', photographs, etc.

The emails will contain numerous apparent grammar and spelling errors. 90% of these mails call the aspirant for an interview at Delhi, Noida or Gurgaon. Often, the contact address, phone numbers given in the email are non-existent and false.

HR POLICIES IN WIPRO
Annual leaves Every employee will get an annual leave of 30days and if more than 30days is taken then leave will be deducted from the next year. Annual sick days In a year 5days are given as leave for sick days, if morethan 5days are taken a certain amount will be deducted from the salary.

A person who join wipro with lessthan 1year experience works as developer for a couple of project to learn and develop the various developing software programs. Training is provided as per required. Learning through internet is provided. It provide post graduate software management program. It also give middle management course for 5 weeks. It also provide distance learning.
