WHAT IS LIBRARY MANAGEMENT

A library management system is a system that provides following facilities add category, add / remove book, search / issue book, return book.

CURRENT SYSTEM

FNU uses AFW (Alice for Windows) library software.

PROBLEM WITH CURRENT SYSTEM


Wasting a lot of time looking for the book in the wrong location in the library Use the wrong search item and ending up with the same title for more than author Misallocate books in the wrong section the wrong shelf Search process consume allot of the librarian time as well as the visitor

Enhancing usability and accessibility for an increasingly diverse user community is of increasing importance for libraries. Facilitate and promote library use

Convenient Hours An online library is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Access from Anywhere An online library can be accessed anywhere in the world by anyone with a computer. Multiple Users Books in an online library can be checked out by multiple users at the same time.

FEATURES OF THE NEW SYSTEM


This System will provide a search functionality to facilitate the search of resources. This search will be based on various categories viz. book name or the ISBN. Also Advanced Search feature is provided in order to search various categories simultaneously. Further the library staff personnel can add/update/remove the resources and the resource users from the system.

OBJECTIVE

Update the manual library system into a internet based application so that the users can know the details of their account ,availability of books etc.,

CONCLUSION

The role and function of the university library are changing, developing and often conflicting, particularly in relation to the provision for collection and circulation, resource discovery, ownership and control, personalization and seamless access to resources. Enhancing usability and accessibility for an increasingly diverse user community is of increasing importance for libraries.
