Assessment procedures A classroom assessment normally follow the following sequence: a. placement assessment determine stud performance at the beginning of the programme b. formative test monitor stud progress during instruction c. diagnostic assessment to diagnose learning difficulties d. summative assessment to assess achievement at the end of instruction

Norm-referenced assessment and criterionreferenced assessment refers to how stud performance are interpreted; Norm describes the performance in terms of relative position held in the group while criterion describes the specific performance demonstrated by stud;

Types of Assessment
Formative test
To monitor learning progress during instruction. It is to provide continuous feedback to both teacher and stud Eg. Students look at a stimulus and talk on it, teacher asks questions about a certain event and stud responds

A Table Of Specification, or also known as a Test Blueprint, is a two-way chart that provides guidelines to prepare and construct test items; It may contain the following information: a. instructional outcome b. course content/ syllabus to be tested c. number of items d. level of items e. time allocated for the test f. item types 8

A teacher may need to keep scores and feedbacks in order to keep track of stud performance and progress; Scoring criteria in the forms of scoring formats or banding should be employed to ensure the validity and reliability of the scores; Tests scores need to be: a. immediately make known to stud as it has a deep impact on the future b. the scores provide a lot of useful input in order for stud to remedied their areas of weaknesses c. it also serves as remediation and enrichment steps for the teacher for future lesson planning; 9
