Scope
The Directive (No. 97/23/EC) aimed at
harmonising regulations across Europe for
the design, manufacture and conformity
assessment of pressure equipment and
assemblies with a maximum allowable
pressure (PS) greater than 0.5 barg (= 7.25
psig)..

requires the higher category.
Safety accessories are classified as category
IV, unless specific to an item of pressure
equipment of a lower category..
