Measures the extent of learning of the materials presented in a course,textbook or programme (Henning ,1987).

Assessment instruments or procedures are based on the objectives of a course and used to determine how much of the course content students have learned (Bailey,1998). Therefore, achievement test are highly linked to the syllabus as a teacher uses achievement test to determine whether his/her students have learnt the materials that have been presented and have achieved the objectives of the lesson or instructional programme Source : Arshad (2004). Carry out at the end of a particular course of instruction. Determine how well learners have mastered the skills and knowledge presented in the course. Also serve as diagnostic test : indicate what students need to work on in the future.
