NEELKANTH MAHADEV TEMPLE

Neelkanth Mahadev is a Lord Shiva temple and is situated at a height of 1700 meters. It is a 4-hour walk from Rishikesh and a worth payinga visit.

DAKSH MAHADEV TEMPLE

The Daksh Mahadev Temple is an ancient shrine situated to the south of Kankhal town. This temple was constructed by Queen Dhankaur in AD 1810.

Located on the bank of the holy Ganges, the shrine is counted amongst the oldest temples in Rishikesh. Contrary to what the name suggests, it is not dedicated to Lord Ramas brother Bharat. Rather, it has an idol of Lord Vishnu, which is said to be carved out of a single 'Salagram'. The temple was constructed by Adiguru Shankracharya, in 12th century.

RAJAJI NATIONAL PARK

The Chila Wildlife Sanctuary, part of the Rajaji National Park, covers an area of around 240 sq. km. It has 23 species of mammals and 315 fauna species. You can also catch glimpses of elephants, tigers, leopards, jungle cats, Himalayan yellow throated martens, sambers, chitals, barking dears, wild boars, langurs, ghurals, sloth bears, king cobras, woodpeckers, etc. Fishing in the river is allowed

LAKSHMAN JHULA

Lakshman Jhula is built on the river Ganges and is a major tourist attraction of Rishikesh. As the legend goes, the original bridge used by Laxman was made of jute and was wobbly. The bridge, in its present iron form, was built in the year 1939.

Badrinath, surrounded by Nar- Narayan Parvat is dedicated to Lord Vishnu and is considered to be an important temple of the four Dhams. This aspiring temple is divided into three categories: The Garbha Griha featuring 15 idols with a high image of Lord Vishnu, the Darshan Mandap where auspicious pujas are conducted and the Sabha Mandap where devotees devote their time in offering prayers and performing rituals.
