in collaboration with

Who we are
We are seven post graduate students of the Corporate communications and public relations program at Centennial College. Through our event, we seek to build awareness, increase support and raise funds for the You Can Play charity. You Can Play is committed to making sure all athletes, regardless of sexual orientation, have equal opportunities to participate in sporting activities without discrimination and victimization. We are passionate about these goals as we strongly believe that a skilled player should never be denied opportunities to participate based on their sexual orientation. Our objectives:

To encourage all athletes to come out and play, regardless of sexual orientation. To raise awareness of stigma within the sports community and the existence of a charity to help stop it. To raise money for the organizations efforts against homophobia in sports.

YOU CAN PLAY

You Can Play is committed to making sure all athletes have equal opportunities to participate in sporting activities without fear. The organization works to guarantee that athletes are given a fair opportunity to compete, judged by other athletes and fans alike, only by what they contribute to the sport or their teams success. Their programs include a combination of video messages, educational programs, and other resources for high schools, colleges and universities, and professional teams and leagues. What does the ability to score a goal or homerun have to do with who the athlete loves or is attracted to? Answer: NOTHING. Key Messages:

You Can Play is dedicated to ensuring equality, respect and safety for all athletes, regardless of sexual orientation. You Can Play works to guarantee that athletes are given a fair opportunity to compete, judged by other athletes and fans alike, only by what they contribute to the sport or their teams success. You Can Play seeks to challenge the culture of locker rooms and spectator areas by focusing only on an athletes skills, work ethic and competitive spirit.
