IDENTITY VERSUS CONFUSION

Introduction
In our observational research, we will focus on fifth stage that is Identity versus Confusion in Erik Eriksons development stages. This stage happens during adolescence which is the transition from childhood to adulthood. The stage is between 8 to 18 years old. During this period, they explore possibilities and begin to form their own identity based upon the outcome of their explorations. This sense of who they are can be hindered, which results in a sense of confusion about themselves and their role in the world. For example this question; "I dont know what I want to be when I grow up". Our observational research, we are specific the location at Seksyen 16 and Seksyen 17, Shah Alam. We do the observational on student at primary and secondary school. We also do the observational on teenagers who already finish their school.

Literature review
Eriksons (1968) developed the human lifespan that have eight stages of development unfold as people go through. Eriksons theory describes the impact of social experience across the whole lifespan. For this research, we were observing theory about psychosocial stage 5 which is identity versus identity confusion. During adolescence, children are exploring their independence and developing a sense of self. From this stage, we can see that the child will encounter at this stage of confusion in determining their future. But there are also some people who can determine their future needs by itself. If they succeed in making the right decisions, they will succeed in life, however, for those who still suffer the confusion, their lives will be wobbling a bit and will choose the less accurate results.
