Winter was almost over. At the Carver School, Miss Cline and her class were thinking of ways to make their old school look cheerful. Everyone agreed that the school looked kind of gloomy.
We could plant flowers in the schoolyard! said Peng. We could earn money for the supplies by having a bake sale and doing a talent show. We like Pengs plan! said everyone in the class. Well, then, lets get to work, said Miss Cline.

In the next two months, the class held two bake sales. In late March, the students held a big talent show with the rest of the school. Many people paid two dollars a ticket.

By early April, the class had earned a lot of money. Miss Cline took them to a garden supply store to get supplies. Two weeks later, the school looked beautiful. The class had worked hard to plant flowers all around the building. Thank you, Principal Sanchez said to the class. The school looks cheerful!
