LOKSABHA……………..

It is also called the house of the people.


It has a maximum of 552 members which
includes 20 members from
Union territories and two from Anglo
Indians. Each Loksabha is formed for a
five year term. It can also be extended by
the proclamation of emergency for one
year.
RAJYASABHA…………..
The Rajyasabha means the "Council of
States". It is the upper house of the
Parliament of India. Membership is limited
to 250 members, 12 of whom are chosen
by the President of India for their
expertise in specific fields of art,
literature, science, and social services.
These members are known as nominated
members. The remainder of the body is
elected by state and territorial
legislatures.
Terms of office are for six years.

And this is the present condition of
our country :
Who are they? The people of Indian
population. So, whose responsibility to
take care of them?
 The World Bank estimates that 456 million Indians
(42% of the total Indian population) now live under
the global poverty line of $1.25 per day. This
means that a third of the global poor now reside
in India.

 The source for this was the 61st round of the


National Sample Survey (NSS) and the criterion
used was monthly per capita consumption
expenditure below Rs. 356.35 for rural areas and
Rs. 538.60 for urban areas. 75% of the poor are in
rural areas.

 The poverty level is below 10% in states like Delhi,


Goa, and Punjab etc whereas it is below 50% in
Bihar (43) and Orissa (47). It is between 30-40% in
Northeastern states of Assam, Tripura, and
Mehgalaya and in Southern states of TamilNadu
and Uttar Pradesh.
1) In India ,50%of world’s hungry live.
2) 230 million people undernourished.
3) India ranks 94th out of 119 countries in global
hunger index.
4) 35% of India’s population are food food
insecure. and many more such alarming facts
were revealed.

India's economic growth rate is expected to fall drastically to 3.4


per cent this year, economic forecasting consultancy Oxford
Economics has said.

India is expected to report a GDP growth of 3.4 per cent in


calendar year 2009, a drastic fall from the 9.2 per cent in 2007
and 7.4 per cent in 2008
