CARL ROGERS (1902-1987)

BACKGROUND Born in 1902 in Oak Park, Illinois, Chicago Was already able to read well in pre-school Started his formal education at Grade Two Become very independent and disciplined because informal education at home

Involved in agriculture at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, followed by History and then religion Furthered his studies Teachers College, Columbia University In 1928, obtained his Masters and Doctor of Philosophy in 1931 Involved himself in research dealing with children at the Association For The Prevention Of Cruelty To Children, Rochester, New York In 1930 was appointed Director of that association Died in 1987

CARL ROGERS CONTRIBUTIONS


Produced his first book entitled The Clinical Treatment of the Problem Child in 1939 Second book was Counselling and Psychotherapy: Newer Concepts in Practice In 1945, he set up a counselling center at the University of Chicago Produced his third book entitled ClientCentered Therapy in 1951 Together with his daughter, Natalie Rogers, conducted a series of workshops between 19751980

For his contributions in psychotherapy, counseling and psychology, he was bestowed the Award for Distinguished Professional Contributions to Psychology by the American Psychology Associations (APA) Won Humanist of the year 1964 award given by the American Humanist Associations

ALBERT BANDURA (1925-present)


BACKGROUND Born in 1925 in Mundare, Canada Received the Bolocan Award for Psychology from the University of Columbia Obtain his Masters of Arts in 1951 and Doctor of Philosophy the following year from the University of Iowa In 1953, started teaching at the Psychology Department Stanford University until now In 1974, appointed as the President of the American Psychology Association

ALBERT BANDURA CONTRIBUTIONS


His famous studies was Bobo Doll experiments Write several books such as: i) Adolescent Aggression (1959) ii) Social Learning and Personality Development (1963) iii) Aggression: A Social Learning Analysis (1973)

Was named David Starr Jordan Professor of Social Science in Psychology by Stanford University in 1974 In 1977, he produced another book entitled Social Learning Theory In 1986, publishing a book entitled Social Foundations of Thought and Action: A Social Cognitive Theory His sixth book entitled Self Efficacy: The Exercise of Control was published in 1997
