FILIPINO VALUES refers to the set

of values or the value system that a majority of the Filipino have historically held important in their lives

Filipinos are known to be some of the most hospitable people in the world. Among the most friendly and welcoming cultures, theirs is an exceptional hospitality that comes from the heart and is extended with a warm smile. For Filipinos, sharing the best of what they have is an honor and a sign of valued friendship. Guests are served the best meal and given the coziest room in the house. There is no such thing as a bad time to visit.

HOSPITABLE

Another value that is notable to speak is the way respect for other people is shown. As a sign of respect, they say "po" and "opo" to the elders. They do not call each other by their first names but use words such as "Kuya," "Ate," "Manong" or "Manang" that denote their superiority and greater wisdom. They also practice the gesture of kissing the hands of the elders and the peculiar gesutre of letting the front of the hand of an elder touch their foreheads.

RESPECTFUL OF PARENTS AND ELDERS

This is observed when one person has nothing and they tend to share what they have to them. * During special occasions such as birthdays or "fiestas"a celebration when people from other places visit your place to celebrate with you, there are lots of foods specially prepared for everyone! It maybe your friend, family, a friend of your friends or even strangers can gather and they are willing to share foods. * When a neighbor is in trouble, they are always ready to help them.

HARDWORKING

Rain or shine, crisis after crisis, calamity after calamity, we Filipinos are still smiling and laughing it off. Foreigners find this peculiar attribute among Filipinos as positive in dealing with lifes hardships in ones personal life and even at work.

HAPPY

Filipinos are said to be loyal to their friends and fellowmen in order to ensure the peace in the group. This is manifested in their basic sense of justice and fairness and concern for other's well being. Filipinos recognize the essential humanity of all people and regard others with respect and empathy. With this orientation, Filipinos develop a sensitivity to the nature and quality of interpersonal relationships, which are their principal source of security and happiness.

LOYALTY

The Philippines is one the most religious countries in world, particularly in Catholicism and Islam. Families would encourage and strengthen the values of their children and would at least have one day a week for worship and at the same time strengthening family ties. Religion is the foundation of most of the countrys morals and values and sometimes, the church greatly affects the minds and opinions of the general populace, affecting its decisions. Sadly, this also applies to the government as they are troubled by whatever the Churchs stand is in every matter, as people see their opinion to be the right one. Thus, many of our politicians go with whatever the Church says, fearing that they would lose vote if they go against it.

RELIGIOUS

The Philippines is a hotspot for disasters, natural and otherwise. Couple that with poverty, and one would think that Filipinos have the most reason for being a depressed people. However, we have demonstrated time and again that Filipinos can bounce back from a tragedy, emerging stronger and better than before. In the middle of a disaster, Filipinos can still manage to smile and be hopeful that the next morning brings new hope.

RESILIENT

We are also known for being diligent workers. We are persevering and do our best in order to produce products that have the finest quality. The Filipino farmers are very admirable with their work because they wake up very early in the morning and they spend all day planting or harvesting. The Filipino people do not know when to give up. We only know that once we fall, we just need to stand again and fight harder.

DILIGENT

Filipinos can still laugh and enjoy their lives even when they are very poor and even when calamity strikes. We still greet each other with a smile on our face that makes others believe that there is still hope, that God will not abandon them.

OPTIMISTIC

despite difficult times it is The way Filipinos bounce back when tragedy or misfortune strikes.

ENDURANCE

Crab Mentality describes a way of thinking best described by the phrase...."if i can't have it, neither can you". It's a metaphor referring to a pot of crabs in which one of them tries to escape and instead is pulled down by the rest of them. I'm not sure what it means....but I'm guessing that it has to do with the fact that if you're in a situation.... don't try to squeeze your way out of it.... 'cause everyone else will just pull you back into the problem but even deeper than before.

CRAB MENTALITY

Dedication of ones life for the common good of the country.

HEROISM

Filipinos are also honest. In general, they would prefer to work hard for an honest days pay than to find an easier way like stealing or cheating. But even in our own country, Filipinos have displayed honesty in various forms, may it be from a taxi driver returning a dropped phone or wallet. Filipinos would choose to do the right thing, though sometimes this is not necessarily true.

HONEST

Filipinos are also said to have strong family ties. You will see the grandma's and pa's living in the house of their children who already have their own families unlike in other countries where people tend to bring their old parents to homes for the aged.

CLOSE FAMILY TIES

Trust in God or the concept of Bahala na has been overused time and again. This ideal is used when a person does not know what to do or is to lazy to do anything at all. This belief to put fate in Gods hands may be a sign of how religious Filipinos may be at the same time, it may show that the Filipinos are free-spirited and that they put their life in fates hands.
