ISJS

International School for Jain Studies

INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL FOR JAIN STUDIES ISJS

Sponsored by MAHAVIR VISION, INC. (USA) & INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL FOR JAIN STUDIES India.

Jainism to be a part of South Asian Studies in North America

Expansion of South Asian Studies. Jainism currently has only a miniscule presence. Jainism has survived and flourished in India in the past. Doctrines of ahimsa, aparigraha , anekanta and karma relevant today. New generation of Jains must acknowledge their identity proudly and discuss Jainism with non-Jains. Modern and creative approaches are needed. ISJS is remedying this by training and motivating current and future researchers and faculty/teachers.
ISSJS

Building Temples is Not Enough

4

Essential components for survival of Jainism

Scriptures

(Jin-Vani) for guidance, Temples for worship, Monks for leadership, Devoted Shravakas for support and revival.

Extensive Temple building in recent years

Temples

alone will not preserve Jainism. It is essential to preserve Jain Learning and prepare competent scholars who will teach Jainism.
