FOSA TEMPORAL Tiene forma ovoidea: 9 x 13cm. . Limites: Arriba: por la lnea temporal superior, 6 a 7 cm. de la sutura sagital. Tambin se aprecia lnea temporal inferior poco perceptible. Adelante.- apfisis temporal del cigomtico Posterior.- cresta supramastoidea. Inferior.- borde superior del arco cigomtico. Piso: formado por los huesos Frontal, parietal, temporal, esfenoides.
En esta fosa se puede ubicar el Punto Pterion, de importancia en Neurociruga, el cual se aborda para intervenir a la arteria cerebral media). . Contenido 1.- Fascia temporal. Hoja profunda y superficial. La insercin de la Hoja superficial es en la lnea temporal superior, y hacia abajo en el borde superior de asa cigomtica. 2.- Msculo Temporal. Insercin proximal en lnea temporal inferior. Insercin Distal, apfisis coronoides y borde anterior de rama ascendente de mandbula. Accin.- es elevador y retrusor de mandbula. Inervacin.- Nervios temporales profundos: anterior y posterior (medio). 3.- Arteria temporales profundas posterior (rama de la temporal superficial), media y anterior (ramas de la maxilar interna) 4.- Venas satlites 5.- Nervios temporales profundos (medio y posterior), ramas del nervio Maxilar inferior (V3).
