PROBLEM AND ITS BACKGROUND

INTRODUCTION

Statement of the Problem


This study will specifically answer the following questions: Why do people in the urban area still use medicinal plants to cure diseases? How do people in the metropolitan area use medicinal plants in treating illnesses?

Scope
The people living in urban area that are using medicinal plants nowadays. The reasons why people in urban area are using medicinal plants to cure their diseases. The kind of medicinal plants that the people in urban area are using to cure their diseases.

Delimitation
The people residing in the rural area using medicinal plants as cure to their diseases. The Generic or Branded medicines that are made of medicinal plants.

METHOD OF STUDY

Research Method

This study used the descriptive method of research involving the students of Far Eastern University who are currently residing in an urban area.

Instruments
This study used different researches, articles and books. This research also used an online research database for researches and e-books. A questionnaire in the survey form was the instrument used for the study

Sampling Procedures

The study involved 35 participants recruited by random sampling techniques.

SUMMARY, CONCLUSION & RECOMMENDATION

Summary

Conclusion
Majority of the people in the urban areas still use medicinal plants to cure diseases because according to them it is much more affordable than the commercial medicine. Most of the respondents prefer using the method of boiling in the preparation of the medicinal plants to cure diseases. The respondents use Oregano in curing cough, which is the leading ailment according to the respondents in terms of what particular disease do they use the medicinal plant for.

Recommendation
Herbal Medicine must be used by people without chronic illnesses. Herbal Medicine must be tested for safety, efficacy and quality. Proper knowledge on Herbal Medicine can ensure the safety and well-being of the patients. Local Officials must conduct a program on enlightening the public of the possible adverse effects that may aggravate the persons condition in using herbal medicine.
