LINE ORGANISATION

INTRODUCTION

Line organization is the most oldest and simplest method of administrative organization. According to this type of organization, the authority flows from top to bottom in a concern. The line of command is carried out from top to bottom. This is the reason for calling this organization as scalar organization which means scalar chain of command is a part and parcel of this type of administrative organization. In this type of organization, the line of command flows on an even basis without any gaps in communication and co- ordination taking place.

INTRODUCTION:

Functional organization is suggested by F.W.Taylor who recommended the appointment of specialists at important position. It is define as A system in which functional department are created to deal with problems of business at various levels

ORGANIZATION

Line and staff are two different types of organization structure. In line organization the superior exercises direct authority over a subordinate. In staff organization the nature of relationship is advisory. Staff people assist line people at lower levels over whom they have no direct authority. Similarly they may also assist people at senior level who have no direct authority over them.

Advantage of line organization include: Better control of managers over the activities of subordinates reporting to them. There is unity of command. There is no conflict among juniors due to conflicting demands placed by seniors. Duties and responsibilities are clearly defined and related to each other.

ADVANTAGE S:
STAFF
Advantage of staff organization include: Services of specialists are available to more than one departments. This becomes valuable when the workload within individual department is not sufficient for one person. Staff specialists can work more effectively for long term performance improvement unhampered by the pressures of day to day problems

MATRIX ORGANISATION

INTRODUCTION

Matrix Organization was introduced in USA in the early 1960's. It was used to solve management problems in the Aerospace industry. Matrix Organization is a combination of two or more organization structures. For example, Functional Organization and Project Organization.

In an organizational process, the management has many aspects to consider for a workplace to be harmonious and successful. One of these things that should not be left unattended is any presence of conflict. Conflict happens when individuals or groups do not meet their needs and when they do not find satisfaction to their own wants or self-interest.
