Global warming is the rise in the average temperature of Earth's atmosphere and oceans.

Now, every time we burn a fossil fuel , we release carbon dioxide-a major greenhouse gas. : C + O2 = CO2. So, as we burn fossil fuels, we put more and more CO2 into the air. This makes the greenhouse effect stronger, so traps more heat within the atmosphere. This, in turn, causes temperatures to rise.

CO2 increa ses Traps heat Rise in tempe rature

C + O2 = CO2. CO2 is a green house gas, and therefore it would trap heat
More heat trapped, definitely would increase the temperature

Combustion of fossil fuels generates sulfuric, carbonic, and nitric acids, which fall to Earth as acid rain, impacting both natural areas and the built environment.

C6H12O6 + O2 = CO2 + H2O (respiration) CO2 + H2O = C6H12O6 + O2 (photosynthesis) The excess of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions generated from human actions (deforestation) cause a disturbance to this balance. leading to less carbon dioxide (CO2) removal by the process of photosynthesis and the respiration becomes more,

Trees play a critical role in absorbing the greenhouse gases that increases global warming.

Fewer forests means larger amounts of greenhouse gases(such as CO2) entering the atmosphere and increased of global warming.

Forests still cover about 30% of the worlds land area but the worlds rain forests could completely vanish in a hundred years at the current rate of deforestation.

Global warming can be caused by a layer of pollution that traps heat around the earth. This pollution comes from cars, factories, homes, and power plants that burn fossil fuel

Green house gases are the major cause of global warming. Greenhouse gases cause global warming by trapping heat from the Sun in the Earths atmosphere. This causes increase in temperature and hence global warming

Green house gases include: CO2,N2O, H2O and CH4

Landfills release methane, which is a greenhouse gas produced from rotting organic matter. Methane is a greenhouse gas twenty-one times more powerful than carbon dioxide.

Melting of ice caps

Sea level rise (sinking of low lying area or flooding)

Seasonal Climate change

Shifting/migration & distribution of species change

Animals and plants appear to be adapting by migrating three times faster than anticipated to changing climatic conditions.

Coral bleaching
Coral bleaching is caused when rising water temperatures stress the coral, leading it to expel the algae it uses to obtain nutrients. When water temperatures rise even slightly, algae leaves the coral causing the coral to lose its color and eventually die.

Peat bogs are partly decomposed matter due to anaerobic respiration before it forms coal. Peat bogs contain a huge quantity of organic carbon which eventually turn into CO2 and released into the atmosphere.

It is the study of pollen grains deposited in layers of soil as living or fossil When identified to species, archaeological pollen can be used to identify clues to prehistoric climate (what kind of plants grew in the neighborhood of a given site) and relate to temperature during that period.

Dendrochronology can date the time at which tree rings were formed..

Two rings add each year: * growth band wide & light * rest band dark & slim

A radiometric technique that uses the decay of carbon-14 (14 C) to estimate the age of organic material.

Increased spread of infectious diseases: "an increase in the number of people exposed to vector borne diseases (e.g. cholera) and an increase in heat stress mortality."
