Fire safety at condominium

The fire triangle or combustion triangle is a simple model for understanding the necessary ingredients for most fires. The triangle illustrates the three elements a fire needs to ignite: heat, fuel and an oxidizing agent (usually oxygen). A fire naturally occurs when the elements are present and combined in the right mixture,[2] and a fire can be prevented or extinguished by removing any one of the elements in the fire triangle. For example, covering a fire with a fire blanket removes the "oxygen" part of the triangle and can extinguish a fire.

Class A Class A Fires consist of ordinary combustibles such as wood, paper, trash or anything else that leaves an ash. Water works best to extinguish a Class A fire. Class B Class B Fires are fuel by flammable or combustible liquids, which include oil, gasoline, and other similar materials. Smothering effects which deplete the oxygen supply work best to extinguish Class B fires. Class C Class C Fires. Energized Electrical Fires are known as Class C fires. Always deenergize the circuit then use a non-conductive extinguishing agent. Such as Carbon dioxide. Class D Class D Fires are combustible metal fires. Magnesium and Titanium are the most common types of metal fires. Once a metal ignites do not use water in an attempt to extinguish it. Only use a Dry Powder extinguishing agent. Dry powder agents work by smothering and heat absorption. Class K Class K Fires are fires that involve cooking oils, grease or animal fat and can be extinguished using Purple K, the typical agent found in kitchen or galley extinguishers.

Method of Fire Control and Extinguishment refers to the method whereby the fire was controlled and extinguished. If this involves several methods, only code that method which essentially controlled or extinguished the fire.

As fire hazards occur, there shall be no delay in providing the necessary equipment. Access to all available firefighting equipment shall be maintained at all times. All firefighting equipment, provided by the employer, shall be conspicuously located.

Water Supply -A temporary or permanent water supply, of sufficient volume, duration, and pressure, required to properly operate the firefighting equipment shall be made available as soon as combustible materials accumulate. Portable Firefighting Equipment -A fire extinguisher, rated not less than 2A, shall be provided for each 3,000 square feet of the protected building area, or major fraction thereof. Travel distance from any point of the protected area to the nearest fire extinguisher shall not exceed 100 feet.

Fixed Firefighting Equipment - Sprinkler Protection - Standpipes Fire Alarm Devices - An alarm system, telephone system, siren, shall be established by the employer whereby employees on the site and the local fire department can be alerted for an emergency.

Fire prevention is the first step that must be taken to prevent the fire from occurring and also measures to prevent the fire from spreading to a new starting level that can not be controlled anymore. Fire Extinguishers
