Functions and Responsibilities Serves as the policy making, coordinating and overseeing body Initiate the Command System (ICS) by calling the meeting Designate an Operation Center to include required logistical needs. Carefully assess the situation and the magnitude of the event

Functions and Responsibilities Secure important areas like the Operation Center, and all other sensitive or strategic areas from unauthorized access. Fully understand the importance of his roles especially in the safety of the responders Secure and post non-entry signs around unsafe areas.

Functions and Responsibilities Always alert to identify and report all hazards and unsafe conditions to the Commander Secure areas evacuated to and from, to limit unauthorized personnel access. Advise the Incident Commander and others immediately of any unsafe, hazardous or security related conditions.

Functions and Responsibilities Confer with Public Information Officer to establish areas for media personnel. Establish routine briefings with Incident Commander. Document all actions and observations. Can recommend stoppage of operation if unsafe e.g. Travel ban if security and safety is at risk.

Functions and Responsibilities Ensure the formulation and documentation of an incident specific action plan. Call for projection reports (Action Plan) from the Planning Unit Leaders for scenarios 4, 8, 24 and 48 hours from time of incident onset. Adjust time for receiving projection reports as necessary

Functions and Responsibilities Instruct staff to document/ update status reports from all areas ( in coordination with the Operation Center) for use in decisionmaking and for reference in post-disaster evaluation and recovery assistance applications.
