Offences


Types Of Violations


The violations are divided into two types: 1) Violating the restrictions of Ihram, 2) Violating the sanctity of the Haram.


1) The first part requires the sacrificing of an animal to atone for the violation, 2) The second requires the giving of Sadqah (charity), 3) The third requires to pay less than the above Sadqah and 4) The fourth requires one to pay the value in cash or other.

(1) When The Sacrifice Of An Animal Is Wajib

If a mature person in the state of Ihram performs any of the following acts, then he is required to sacrifice an animal to atone for the violation. The violations are: 1) to perfume a limb of ones body, 2) to dye hair with hair dye, 3) to rub oil or something similar on the body, 4) to wear stitched clothes for a complete day, 5) for a male to cover his head for a complete day, 6) for a male to shave a fourth of his head, 7) to cut nails of the hands and feet in the same sitting, 8) to cut all the nails of one hand and 9) to neglect a Wajib element of Hajj.

(2) When Is Sadqah Required?



One is required to pay Sadqah if he, 1) perfumes less than limb, 2) wears stitched clothes for less than a day, 3) covers the face for less than a day, 4) covers the head for less than a day, 5) shaves less than a fourth of the head, and 6) cuts only one nail.


(7) If one performs Tawaf al-Qudum or Tawaf as-Sadr in a state of minor impurity, (8) neglects a circuit from Tawaf as-Sadr or (9) leaves out a pebble from one of the three sites, Then he is liable for Sadqah.


The Sadqah that one must give for each offence mentioned is half Sa of wheat or its value in cash.


(3) When Less Than The Above Sadqah Is Required?


If a mature person in the state of Ihram kills a louse or locust, then it is necessary for him to give Sadaqah or whatever amount he wishes.


(4) When Is One Required To Pay The Value?
If a mature person in the state of Ihram kills or hunts on the land, then the animal killed is evaluated by two upright people and if the assessment amounts to an offering, then one has the option between: 1) purchasing an offering and slaughtering it in the Haram area and give it as Sadqah to the poor, or 2) one may purchase food and distribute this amount amongst the poor, giving each person half Sa of wheat, or 3) one has the option of fasting one day instead of feeding each poor person half a Sa.


And if the animal killed does not amount to the value of an offering, then one has the option of buying meals for the poor or fasting according to the method described above.


There is no obligation if a person in the state of Ihram kills a crow, scorpion, mouse, rabid dog, mosquito, ants, flees, ticks, turtles or what cannot be hunted or gamed.
