What are Learning Outcomes ?

A learning outcome is what a person can do


as a result of a learning experience.

 To do what?

 Toperform a specific task at a given level


of competence under a certain situation.

Scope of Application
 University Education should be interpreted
as the provision of an holistic learning
experience for students

 Learning through the academic curriculum


(classroom activities) and co-curricular
curriculum (out-of-classroom activities)

 Should be applied to both types of learning


activities

Characteristics of
an outcome-based approach
 A clear articulation of the intended learning outcomes at the
institution, program, and course levels.

 An alignment of pedagogy, assessment, and intended learning


outcomes.

 An awareness of the importance of a holistic learning


experience (i.e., emphasizing meaningful co-curricular
activities).

 A culture of self-reflection based on evidence for


improvement purposes.

a co-curricular activity
• I have acquired more advanced vocal skills through
taking part in the preparation activities and attending
workshops at the Festival.
• I applied the vocal skills I learnt to the singing in the
Festival/ Competition and in other performances.
• I am able to describe the traditional music of some
countries who participated in the Festival.
• I am able to describe some features of the Korean
culture.
• My appreciation for music has deepened.
• My appreciation and implementation for effective
teamwork skill has improved.
