Add Field Dialog: Description

The Add field dialog has two arguments:

Select Field: This is the field that you would like to add. Field Data: This is the data that you would like the field to contain. Please note that Field data includes the indicators (\\) and the subfield data to be added to the field. As noted in the help file, subfield delimiters are noted by using a $. Real dollar signs are noted by using the mnemonic {dollar}

Making the Changes

To globally add a new field, select the field to be added and the data to be added to the field and then click add field.

When the changes have been made, the program will report the number of fields added.

Conclusion
Remember, after making edits, you must always remake MarcEdits mnemonic file format back into MARC to be loading by most electronic catalogs. Overall, I have tried to make the MarcEditor editing functions as easy to use as possible. From reading this tutorial, users should now be able to:

Open a file into the MarcEditor Initialize the Add Field Dialog Add a new field to a set of MARC records.
