Muslim ibn al-Warid ibn Khusyaz al-Qusyairi al Naisaburi Life time: 204-261 hijrah (820-875 masehi) Place of birth: Naisaburi, Iran Life time: 204-261 after hijrah Attitude: disciplines at a precocious age, focused his attention on hadith.

Imam Muslim acquired the hadith during his

adolescence age, and travelled to Hijaz, Syam, Egypt, and Iraq. In the journey of imam toward hadith he found many famous scholars and learnt from them. He summarized his sahih from three hundred thousand ahadith, which he had collected within 15 years. Imam Muslim compiled many books and treatises on Hadith, the most important of his works is the compilation of the Hadith collection Al-Jami `AsSahih, which is famous by the name of Sahih Muslim.

Sahih Muslim or also known as Al-Jami al-Musnad alSahih al-Mukhtasar Min al-Sunan Bi Naql al-Adl An al-Adl An Rasulillah (s.a.w). In this book, Imam Muslim has written about hadith. It told about the compilation hadith. Some scholars considered the arrangement of Hadith in Sahih Muslim is better than Sahih al-Bukhari. Imam Muslim would present his work to the scholars and critics of ahadith and if any fault was found with any Hadith he would omit in order to insure that he only included the Hadith.

Imam Muslim is reported to have said,

Not all what I considered as authentic is included in this collection, but what is included is those which unanimously agreed to be authentic.
The number of Hadith in his collection based on

subject is 3030 without repetition and there are nearly ten thousand ahadith if counted with repetition.
There are many commentaries on his book and the

most famous is Sahih Muslim bi Sarh al-Nawawi by Imam AL-Nabawi (d.676).

There is something special about Sahih Muslim. In this book, there is not have any additional or criticism and

insufficient towards Sahih Muslim at the era of Imam Muslim and after he died until now. Muslim scholars have agreed and confer to approve the position of scripture Sahih Muslim as a second scripture after Sahih Bukhari. Sahih Muslim also assume as a special holy because his methodology different with methodology of Imam Bukhari, where as his gather matn that different in one riwayah without break to another chapter. Sahih Muslim also do not have many hadith repeatable and Imam Muslim will try to avoid if could. Lastly, the explanations doesnt discontinuous, but follow the steps that constantly in certain topic.
