 Dear students soon you are going to enter the life of adults so here are
some tips which will help to adjust better in the society.
OUR AIM IN LIFE IS
 To grow fully as a human being physically, mentally and spiritually.
 To have a feeling of well being.
 To develop resistance to any kind of mental health hazards like, stress,
depression etc.
 To achieve these you have to develop certain skills, which are follows.
 Positive Thinking: Count your blessings.
 Self Discovery: Recognize, analyze and enlist your strengths and
weaknesses.
 Improve your strength: and reduce the weakness for this you may need
external help.
 Develop positive attitude; Forgive your mistakes and learn a valuable
lesson from it for future behaviour.
 Be disciplined and respect time.
 Do not react but respond i.e. stop, think and act in any situation.
 Conquer your negative emotions and act in logical and objective way.
 Whip worries learn to smile and have positive attitude.
 Deal whit worries and accept failure as nature process and never
internalize failure.
 Respect yourself work on what you have and don’t think of what you don’t
have. Also appreciate other.
 Be confident in what you do.
 Have strong self esteem. But don’t be arrogant.

EFFECTIVE STUDY HABITS

• Light: There must be sufficient light falling on the book or notes you are
studying.
• Temperature: The temperature of the room should be neither too warm nor
too cool, but medium.
• Airiness: Your study room should be well ventilated. The windows should, as
far as possible, be open so that you can inhale fresh air.
• A quiet place: It is necessary that you study in a quiet place away from
disturbance of kind.
• Time: have a fixed time for studies and stick to it religiously, but remember
you should not do any serious study after heavy meal.
• Routine: Organize your time wisely each day.
• Pauses: You should take a break after every one hour or so for five, ten
minutes. This break allows the mind to recognize the material learned.
• Your study table: If the table is cleared and all the books etc. properly
organized, there is less likelihood of you being distracted during study.
• Sitting posture: It has been found that when one is studying, if one’s spine is
straight, and the feet flat on the floor, one can concentrate better.
Planning Habits:

 Have fixed hours of study.


 Have a plan of study for each day and each week.
 Allot time for each subject separately.
 Spend more time for difficult subjects, and less time on each.
 Allot specific time for homework, study, games and other
activities.
 Complete a portion of work in one subject before shifting to
another.
 Make it a point that the given homework is complete on the same
day.
 Do not overlook the pending work.
 Keep Books, Notebooks etc, systematically and at one place.
 Before sitting to study, collect and keep all required things handy
Revising H abit s:

• Recall main points in mind after completing a lesson.


• Revise both easy and difficult subjects (i.e. do not
neglect easy subject).
• Do not omit difficult points during revision.
• Do some revision work everyday.
• Have a definite schedule to revise every subject.
• Revise the difficult portions repeatedly.
• Check the correctness of points while revising.
• Add new points while revising, if, required.
• Re-revise importance matters by writing it down.
HOW TO PREPARE NOTES

 Take notes in class during the lecture in outline form.


 Underline certain points for giving emphasis in making notes.
 Consult other related books from Library.
 Prepare notes in your own way by using simple words and phrases.
 Complete the missed part of the class notes on the same day while they are
fresh in your mind.
 Take help from class notes and Text Books and Reference Books in
preparing notes.
 Give heading, sub-headings and numbering of Co-ordinate points in making
notes.
 Subject matter and meaningfulness of Lesson should remain unchanged in
the notes.
 Write Summaries of the lesson with comments on them.
 Try to supplement the notes already taken.
SOME PRINCIPLES FOR IMPROVING YOUR MEMORY
SKILLS

 Feel fully confident that you’ll remember. Trust your memory.


 Develop the strongest possible motive for remembering a particular
name, fact, place or event.
 Become genuinely interested in what you want to remember.
 Resolve strongly to remember.
 Use as many senses (eyes, ears, nose, tongue, and touch, imagination)
to make the first impression a really strong one.
 Associate or logically link new material to be remembered whit previously
known matter.

Law of Contiguity in time or space.
 Make use of artificial ways of associating thinks like Rhymes, songs,
phrases, Memories like VIBGYOR, using symbols.
 Repeat Regularly.
TIME MANAGEMENT

 Never Postpone for tomorrow what must be done today.


 Hurrying us is not always the best way of doing a think faster.
Never allow the time – to be always chasing you.
 Be punctual for arriving at school and submitting assignments etc.
complete your assigned tasks in accordance with the laid down
time stipulation.
 Do not take on far to many thinks to be done in one go.
Concentrate on one thing at a time.
 Break down your goals into smaller tasks with manageable steps.
Make-sure your first step is easy enough. Not be a failure.
 Organize your place of work and system of working in an efficient
manner. Use proper filling system and indexing.
 Do not allow telephone calls take away too much time.
 Do not entertain friends in your study hours.
 Time management requires a high degree of self-discipline.

activity. Try aerobics, walking, yoga, jogging, dancing and

 Plan your schedule ahead of time. Allow plenty of time to get
things done.

 Adjust your approach to event according to its demand. Set your
realistic goal and have competition with your own self.
 Quiet time
 Fix some time exclusive for your own grooming. Hobbies are good
antidote for daily pressure.
Watch your habits and eat sensibly.

 Try to each well balanced meals and don’t skip any meal. Avoid non
prescription drugs.
 Talk to sincere friend/family members
 Occasional sharing of deep feeling and thought with your friends also
reduce stress to some extent
 Develop a possible attitude
 One of the best way to manage stress is looking on the brighter side of life
and if gives you mental strength to combat the stress.
 Smile- it costs nothing
 A Smile relaxes all the major facial muscles. Have a good laugh as often as
possible.
 Don’t under prize yourself
 To boost up self esteem count your blessing and don’t for tomorrow. Do it
now, start doing it. There is always a silver lining in any gloomy situation.
 You enjoy life more fully when you manage stress, you will look better feel
happier, stay active and independent and study more relaxed and you will

Keep Smiling

• It has been sagaciously observed that a smile costs nothing


• The Power of smile is indeed fantastic.
• Only human beings have this special gift of nature.
• It is much easier to smile than frown!
• Smile not only relaxes you but generates relaxed atmosphere all round.
• Laughter is best medicine while smile is the most invigorating for all ages.
• Smile triggers the thymus gland to let at least 14 other endocrine to secrete the
requisite harmones for general well-being.
• “One who is not wearing a smile is not properly dressed,” said Mahatma Gandhi.
• If you see a person without a smile- gives one of yours.
• Leave the house with a smile; enter the house also with a smile.
DO ONE THING AT A TIME
Through it is possible to do about five things simultaneously; it is
not possible to do all of them well.
By doing one thing at a time, results in excellence through
concentration of effort.
When we do one thing at a time we derive maximum pleasure out
of it, resulting in qualitative improvement in the outcome of
results.
So, while eating it is not desirable to read newspaper or hear on
TV or radio as one will not ‘enjoy’ fully either of them.

• Every activity requires minimum essential of time for any


person.
• By trying to hurry, one does not improve the quality of
work.
• Attitude of hurry invariably generates tension which
obviously affects the quality of work output.
• How much worthwhile will a hurried prayer be?
• Remember- Hurry – Worry – Bury
• So, if you are normally spending five minutes to eat your
breakfast, take six minutes to do it from tomorrow. The
extra one minute thus spent will not be a waste of time.

HOW TO APPEAR IN AN INTERVIEW
• 1. DRESS APPROPRIATELY: Find out what dress is considered
appropriate. For example, attire that is acceptable in a
certain city may not be appropriate in the same situation in another
one. Before you say a word, what you wear the first impression.

• 2. SMILE: A smile is the most effective means to establish effective


communications. A smile should indicate, +ve attitude, respect for
the person, friendliness and openness.

• 3. POSTURE: How you sit, where you look, how you wish your
interviewer makes a difference. You must sit straight, be curt and
polite.

• 4. USE GOOD MANNERS: God manners are always appropriate and


may give you a competitive edge. Say such things as “please, thank
you, excuse me” with sincerity and show respect for others.
• 5. AVOID MANIPULICATION: Be direct and honest. Treat others with
respect. Give convincing arguments. Remember that manipulative
can back fire.
• 6. EYE- TO- EYE-CONTACT: Have an eye contact with the person
who is interviewing you.
• 7. FIND OUT WHAT YOUR LISTENER WANTS: To gain the most from
any conversation focus on your listener. Use open ended questions.
• 8. THANK THE INTERVIEWER: In the end thank the interviewer for
listening to you so patiently.
