INTRODUCTION
Health care services were earlier considered charitable activity based on compassion, cost-benefit, costeffectiveness and cost containment were not thought of. Decisions taken were mainly based on intuition and impulsiveness. It was believed that management techniques are meant only for the profit making production industries. However it is proved that non profit organizations also benefit by using management techniques. In a lighter way it can be said that most of the medical doctors know management of science, but they don't know science of management.

SUPERVISION
Overseeing the work being done by the employees is supervision and the person doing so is the supervisor. He is responsible for the functioning of the employees and staff. The scope of the supervisor is largely related to the internal working of the hospital. He is given authority to get things done. His work is largely concerned with daily work/operations within the hospital and not with external environment.

MOTIVATION
There is a difference between the capacity to work and the willingness to do so. The objective of management fails if the worker is capable but not willing to do. The process of arousing the willingness to work is Motivation. In other words, employees can get job satisfaction only when they are happy with their work. This happiness is possible through motivation. Motivation is to inspire the employees of hospital to give off his best and get job satisfaction too.

LEADERSHIP
Leadership is an essential pre-requisite of management. This is because there are constant changes in dealings with patient as well as in organisation and to adjust this changing conditions, controls are necessary, and for this leader is required. Even the best organisation have failed for want of effective leadership. As against that many examples are found where a good leader has made quick changes in the org. and saved it from loss or failure. Thus leadership is the skill to get expected results willingly and without coercion.

COMMUNICATION
Communication is the exchange through any medium.
Of fact, thoughts, opinions, and emotions between two or more persons. It is the process of transmitting our ideas to others. The management cannot take important decision without information. Managers in large organization cannot by themselves get information as to what is happening in their various departments. At the same time it is also necessary that the top management should be aware of what is happening at the bottom level. For this communication through reports, etc plays important role. Thus communication, reporting can be compared with blood circulation in the body.
