Proper Weight Lifting Techniques

Objectives
To teach the correct techniques in the Power Clean Lift To empower students to assess themselves and make improvements on lifting exercises designed to enhance their health

Planing for Instruction


Equipment Needed
Computer w/ Power Point and Excel programs Power Clean Power Point assessment Digital video camera/tripod Monitor/VCR Box of discs Literature/ materials on proper lifting techniques Video on Power Clean Lifts

Preparation
Familiarize with technology and power point Know proper techniques and jargon in lifts and teaching lifts Sign out use of technology and weight room Identify benefits of lifts Identify muscle groups involved in lifts Go over rules and safety in weight room

Timeline
Summer prior to start of Class
Collaborate w/teachers on lift technique and jargon Finalize power point demonstration/assessment Familiarize teachers w/ technology to be used Have technology in place prior to start of school year

School Year
Sign out equipment and weight room as need Implement program Assess programs success/shortcomings Summer following program collaborate to work on improvements

Power-Point Student Assessment


Phase One

Students will work through a power point presentation on the proper techniques of the Power Clean. Students will correctly identify the proper and common improper techniques prior to lifting

Student Video Critique


Students will video tape themselves properly lifting the Power Clean Students will view themselves and critique their performance and technique

Project Assessment
Teacher will assess success of project throughout course Student assessment log on lifts Use of technology as a tool for instruction
