CLIMATE FOR COTTON

Cotton in China is planted from the first of April through mid-May. Cotton harvest will then begin around the first of September and should be completed around the end of October. The cotton is planted in summer session or in the hot climate & grown in monsoon climate.

AGRICULTURAL TOOLS OF CHINA

METHOD TO GROW POTATOES

7 Ways to Plant Potatoes We tested 7 easy ways to grow potatoes: 4 in containers, 3 in the ground. 1. Hilled Rows 2. Straw Mulch 3. Raised Bed 4. Grow Bag 5. Garbage Bag 6. Wood Box 7. Wire Cylinder

1. HILLED ROWS
Dig straight, shallow trenches, 2 to 3 feet apart, in prepared soil. Plant seed potatoes 12 inches apart and cover with about 3 inches of soil. When the shoots reach 10 to 12 inches tall, use a hoe or shovel to scoop soil from between rows and mound it against the plants, burying the stems halfway. Repeat as needed through the growing season to keep the tubers covered.

2.WOOD BOX
Build a bottomless square box. Plant the same as for a raised bed. The box is designed so additional slats can be screwed to the sides as the plants grow and soil is added. In theory, a bottom slat can be temporarily removed to facilitate the harvest of new potatoes. For the final harvest, tip the box and dump out its contents.

AGRICULTURE IN MALAYSIA
Sixteen percent of the population of Malaysia is employed through some sort of agriculture. Large-scale plantations were established by the British. These plantations opened opportunity for new crops such as rubber (1876), palm oil (1917), and cocoa (1950). A number of crops are grown for domestic purpose such as bananas, coconuts, durian, pineapples, rice.

CLIMATE FOR PINEAPPLE

The important climatic factors to consider in growing pineapples in Malaysia are temperature, rainfall, relative humidity and sunshine.

Obtain a pineapple with firm, green leaves (not yellow or brown). Cut off the crown and strip some of the lower leaves so that the stem is exposed. Turn it upside down and let it dry for about a week so that the cut end and the leaf scars can harden. Put the crown in a glass of water until the roots start growing out. Plant the crown in an 6-inch (15.2 cm) pot using light garden soil Keep the plant moist (but not wet) in a sunny, warm and humid place where the night temperatures won't drop below 65F (18C). Water the soil lightly once a week. Fertilize the plant with half-strength fertilizer twice a month during the summer. Look for flowers.

AGRICULTURE IN PAKISTAN

Pakistan is one of the world's largest producers and suppliers of the following according to the different sources i.e. Food and Agriculture Organization of The United Nations and FAOSTAT given here with ranking: Chickpea (2nd) Apricot (6th) Cotton (4th) Milk (5th) Date Palm (5th) Sugarcane (5th) Onion (7th) Kinnow, mandarin oranges, Clementine (6th) Mango (4th) Wheat (7th) Rice (14th)

CLIMATE FOR ONION

There are two main types of onions -short day and long day. Short day varieties are mainly grown in warmer climates during the winter time. These types of onions do best when there are about 12 hours of daylight. Long day varieties are grown in colder regions and do best when daylight hours extend to 15-16 hours. In very warm climates with mild winters

Find a good location. Loosen the soil with a fork and remove any weeds or large stones. Use a landscape rake to create a level surface. Use your feet or the head of the rake to firm down the soil as onions grow well in hard soil. Lightly rake the surface once more. Choose onion sets that are firm and plump. Discard any that are soft or too small. Make rows of small holes in the soil. Use a trowel to dig small holes only as deep as each onion set so the tip is exposed when you replace the soil (about 1 inch). Water the onions in the Spring, but you may not need to water them in Autumn and Winter. Harvest the onions in late Spring.
