BS MID: DEEP HITCH with FREEDOM. Split way +1. Goal is to be in the fat of the Zone at 8-10 yards with EYES when QB looks for you. Take best available release, re-stack in your tube, and run a Hitch at 9-10 yards. Seize whatever spot is given you, present yourself to the QB. BS INSIDE: ELIMINATION DRAG. Split OT +3. Goal is to make Point LB a non-factor. Take an angle to where his upfield shoulder will be; once on his vertical level, plant off outside foot, snap & run flat across the field FAST, looking back at QB the whole way like you expect the ball. Keep arms pumping! BS OUTS: STOP & GO. Normal Split. Idea behind this route is to get the CB to break, react, and be turning his back to run with you right as RB gets the ball. Sell the stop, but start the Fade phase at 7, shorten the 3+2 to just 3, make a fast pivot, just enough to get turned, and get right back out of it. Accelerating to CBs outside hip. Sprint, but look back as though youre getting ball as you sprint along red line. Block CB once ball is caught. RB: ARROW or SWING. You have a Swing if in the backfield; an Arrow if in any S position (Stud-Slug, Smart-Slim, etc) or in motion. Protection call will dictate your protection responsibilities, if any, prior to releasing. SWING should be a speed-skater step & a 6-step SPRINT, losing no depth, and you should turn up just past outside receivers original spot. ARROW aims for 3 yds along the sideline, look early, flip your hips when beyond bottom of #s. In either case, URGENCY is the key word you must get out FAST< and you must maximize R.A.C. by GETTING the SIDELINE. QB: This is a Category B call, meaning our preference is to work backside unless we have a gimme frontside. Individual is pre-snap Yes/No. Drop is 5 quick / 3 quick, initial Eyes are to the POINT, to place him on the Drag, read is the shoulders of the Hang, Deep Hitch to Swing. Stop & Go not a factor.

Full speed Arrow, show eyes and hands after you pass outside receivers original alignment, attack the hands of any DB on your course turning up, squeeze and straighten, holding the Red Line ready to fade to the ball ONLY once its thrown a la Pat & Go drill.
RB: RANGER. Alignment or motion target is bottom of the #s or Hash +4. Run a NOW route, EXPECT the ball. If you dont get it, F.O.R. FAST, turn the CB and dont look back.
QB: Normal Spacing thought process, with the addition of looking at the R pre-snap to see if the defensive adjustment gives you a NOW Corner. If it does, take 1 step and drive the ball to the RB. Otherwise, take the snap & execute a normal 90 series thought process.

FS INS: ARROW. Split 1/2way +1. Goal is to attract flat defenders attention and get him to run with you; technique is a bit different than basic Curl in that you are emphasizing WIDTH more than DEPTH. Take one 45 step, then accelerate toward a point 3 yds deep along the sideline, snapping your head around on your 3rd step out of the break without slowing down. If you get to the bottom of the numbers, flip your hips, show your #s. FS OUTS: MINI CURL. You want to get the feeling of running a semi-circle around the flat defender and getting into the window inside him before he can react. For that reason, cut your split to Top #s (Hash). Use same components of Curl route, just shorter: Sprint to 4-5, Speed break to 7, Drumroll redirect back to QB at 7 after burst/lunge. Take an angle that gets you INSIDE the flat defender, INTO the window, then come back THROUGH it. Ball should be waiting on you. Make a 180 spin after catch, split the zone North & South. DODGE. From an Inside +4 split, the idea is to briefly size up what the CB is doing, than choose the best route to beat him. If not in motion, we would prefer to Ron or Lou your alignment (communicate with inside receiver). Pause slightly off LOS, and watch CB. If he sits & looks at you, assume man coverage, Arc to his outside hip, run a miniature Flat route at 4 yds with same technique as on 4 route. If he gains depth & width, Spray to a miniature Smash, working to a spot 4 yards deep x 2 outside your original alignment. FS INS: COP. Split way. MOFC Quick Corner preferred Arc, straighten to 7 & see the bisect point, Speed break at the best angle to the Corner. Flatter is generally better. Expect ball on steeper angle with loft v. Press man; flatter & faster v. Cover 2. MOFO Quick Post best available release & restack; square eyes to safety, nod, break thin at 7-8. The tighter the safety, the flatter your break needs to be to separate. BS INSIDE/Not Designated as SPACE: ARROW.

BS INS: ARROW. Split 1/2way +1. Goal is to attract flat defenders attention and get him to run with you; technique is a bit different than basic Curl in that you are emphasizing WIDTH more than DEPTH. Take one 45 step, then accelerate almost flat to the sideline, snapping your head around on your 3rd step out of the break without slowing down. Can turn up once 5 yds from the sidelines if you dont have the ball and theres no Quick Corner in the deep sandbox. FS and BS OUTS: PLUS MINI CURL. Normal Mini-Curl technique, but 4 + 3 steps instead of 3 + 2should take you to a depth of 8, possibly 9Outside foot is up because of the stepsmake sure youre in an open window, ready when QB gives you his eyes. FS INSIDE or Tagged MANNING: SPLIT SIT. You are the primary receiver! Aim your sit route to a point 6 yards halfway between the 1st and 2nd LB on or inside you. Versus a Split LB look, this should be right over the ball. Vs. a Mike LB look, it will probably be FS B gap. Expect the ball fast! Use a tight settle & noose turn to maximize RAC! Cloud CB, pull the near safety out of the middle to open up the Interior Thin Post by runnign a miniature C, Dive releasing to 4, straightening and engaging the safety to a de pth of 8, then breaking to the corner, choosing an angle that bisects CB and safety. BS/FS INS: QUICK SEAM / THIN Split 1/2way. Pre-snap ID MOFO or MOFC; to the field, treat it as MOFO if in doubt. Best available release and re-stack; stay on Seam v. MOFC; engage/square up the safety and break Thin at 7-8 v. MOFO From the backfield, aim 2 yds outside TE/T; Post break will happen at when beyond LBs heels. The tighter the safety, the fl atter your break. QB: Drop is 5 quick (3 quick from Gun). Pre-Snap ID MOFO or MOFC, and CB alignments on either side so you know if you will have Stops or C working for you outside.. MOFO give active eyes to safety opposite the Quick Thin for 2 steps, bang the Thin out of the break on your anchor step; quick escape to the boundary Stop to throw away if taken from you. MOFC, work the single side Stop if hes Premium, keeping it premium with centered eyes for 1st 2 steps If single is non-premium, Key Hang defender to 2-receiver side after eyeing Point LB for 2 steps Hit the stop unless Hang flies; 1-ball the back shoulder of the Seam in that case. BS/FS OUTS: STOP. Normal Split. Standard Stop route technique; you are a critical outlet late in the QBs progression, so, if anything, push a step deeper rather than shorter. Because you will likely not get the ball right out the break, expect to keep coming downhill after the break, placing yourself squarely between yourself & the CB so he has no angle to break up on the ball. BS/FS INS or NON-TAGGED: ARC S.O.S. Split way (OT+5-6 if on 3 rec side) Your job is to take hash safeties in a 2-safety look off the hash & pry the middle open; v. 1 safety, the goal is to stretch the single safety horizontally so he cant cover you both. KEY: win on the release so you can get vertical fast! Because of your job, Arc release the hang, use a landmark of 2-3 yds outside the hash, & STAY on SEAM (no bend adjustments). BS/FS MID (or TAGGED): SLASH. Split Ins +5. Goal is to get quickly into the void in the middle of the defense behind LB level. MUST win by planning your release course! Use slight pause to allow Ins to create a wake & see the angle of Hang & Point LB. Plan to go over top of them to your landmark--20 yards right over the ball--adjust and go under if they take that angle away, getting right back on your angle after. Expect ball as soon as you clear! As you clear, straighten if you feel chased from behind with no safety help; flatten if you feel the near saf tight to you. QB: Drop is KickRocker & Hitch. Will always be Gun & always use Free protection. All interior throws are Timely 2 balls off your Hitch except for Cover 0Stops are Gut shots off a quick escape. Eyes & rhythm are the key. Vs. 2 safeties, eye safety OPPOSITE the Slashif he rotates toward the Slash, hit the Seam where youre looking; else, come off your hitch step & bang the Slash as he clears. Color from the other safety on top: hit the Seam to that side. Color from underneath: Quick escape to Stop. Vs. 1 safety, eye Jack in the direction where hes cheated, hit opposite Seam on rhythm. If he rotates toward where you want to throw, hit Seam where youre looking. Color on the Seam you want = Quick Escape to Stop. Must have mentality that the Stop is a great completion for us.
