Our goal is not to eliminate stress but to learn how to manage it. Begin with educating yourself.
Remember:

Knowledge is power! The ability to control a matter lies in understanding it.

RECAPE

Stress is a non-specific response of the body to any perceived demand Your ability to cope with stress depends on your physical and mental health at that moment Your ability to cope also depends on the experience and skills you have in dealing with that particular stress

Give yourself credit for being human; intentional self-care is crucial. Recognize that your mind is not fully functioning. DO NOT make any major life changes or life decisions until things calm down. Follow the AA motto: One Day at a Time. Know that this too shall pass.

5 MORE WAYS TO ADDRESS STRESS

Let yourself ask questions, and communicate with co-workers. Do unpleasant tasks in the morning to get them over with. Simplify things whenever possible. Look at large, overwhelming projects as a series of steps you complete one at a time. Let yourself laugh, especially when you feel grumpiest. Live in the presentdont spend time worrying about how much better things were in the past or what might happens in the future. Most people who are able to manage stress have perfected the art of living in the now.

MAIN GOAL

Act, dont react. Plan ahead, including having a Plan B.

How Peple fail to manage stresses 1. If I ignore it, it will go away. It may, but there will likely be more right behind it. 2. Other people cause my stress. You control your response to other people. 3. Next time Ill do it differently. Unless you plan for changing what you do and learn new skills, chances are youll do the same thing. 4. If I just push a little harder Physical and mental health is the basic foundation of all stress management 5. If I just learn this one new thing, Ill be fine. Stress management is a lifestyle, not a single event, that incorporates daily physical and mental health and lifelong learning of new skills to become more competent at responding to the demands of life.
