In addition to

there are many
websites such
this one that

“Koran Science”
http://www.miraclesofthequran.com/index2.php
http://www.quranmiracles.com/
All these things and more are supposedly referred to in the Koran,
but these claims are all false, as this presentation will show.
24th August 2009 10 - Koran Science & Cosmology (Pt 1) 19
Section 1- Islam & the Universe
in general
Arberry “Have not the unbelievers then beheld that the Heavens and
the Earth were a mass all sewn up, and then We unstitched them?”
Palmer “Do not those who misbelieve see that the Heavens and the
Earth were both solid, and we burst them asunder?”
Rodwell “Do not the infidels see that the Heavens and the Earth were
both a solid mass, and that we clave them asunder?”
Sale “Do not the unbelievers therefore know, that the Heavens and the
Earth were solid, and we clave the same in sunder?”
Irving “Have not those who disbelieve seen how Heaven and Earth
were once one solid mass which We ripped apart?“
Dawood “Are the disbelievers aware that the Heavens and the Earth
were of one solid mass which we tore asunder?”
This is what Surah 21:30 really means. Here God lifts up the solid
Sky which was previously lying on the ground.
In Egyptian Mythology,
the Air God Shu
raised up Nut the
Sky Goddess Above
Geb, the Earth God.
1. Surah 21:30 does not refer to the Big Bang. Such a belief is out of
line with both traditional Islamic interpretations of the Koran and
modern Science.
5. Far from proving that the Koran is in harmony with modern Science,
this verse shows exactly the opposite. That is to say that much of
the Koran is just a collection of myths.
Arberry “The Creator of the Heavens and the Earth; and when He
decrees a thing, He but says to it 'Be,' and it is.”
Palmer “The Originator of the Heavens and the Earth, when He
decrees a matter He doth but say unto it, 'Be,' and it is.”
Rodwell “Sole maker of the Heavens and of the Earth! And when He
decreeth a thing, He only saith to it, "Be," and it is.”
Sale “The creator of Heaven and Earth; and when he decreeth a thing,
he only saith unto it, be, and it is.”
Irving “Devisor of Heaven and Earth, whenever He decrees so affair,
He merely tells it: "Be!" and it is.”
Dawood “Creator of the Heavens and the Earth! When he decrees a
thing, he need only say “Be” and it is.”
1. The Koran is vague about the details of how God created the
Universe. It is uncertain if Creation was Ex-Nilho o using pre-existing
material.
This is said to be
a reference to
the expansion of
the Universe 1400
years ago.
The word
“confines” is said
to refer to the
increasing size
of the Universe
throughout its
History.
“Company of jinn and men, if you are able to pierce through the
confines of the Heavens and Earth, pierce through them. You will
not pierce through except with a clear authority.”
Surah 55:33 Harun Yahya
24th August 2009 10 - Koran Science & Cosmology (Pt 1) 45
Surah 51:47- 48 Checking the translation 1
Pickthall “We have built the Heaven with might, and we it is Who
make the vast extent (thereof) & the Earth have we laid out, how
gracious is the Spreader (thereof)!”
Yusuf Ali “With power and skill did we construct the Firmament: for it
is we Who create the vastness of pace & we have spread out the
(spacious) Earth: How excellently we do spread out!”
Hilali Khan “With power did we construct the Heaven. Verily, we are
able to extend the vastness of space thereof & we have spread out
the Earth, how excellent spreader (thereof) are we!”
Shakir “& the Heaven, we raised it high with power, & most surely we
are the makers of things ample & the Earth, we have made it a wide
extent; how well have we then spread (it) out.”
Sher Ali “& we have built the Heavens with our own hands, &, verily,
we have vast powers & the Earth we have spread out,& how
excellently do we spread it out!”
Khalifa “We constructed the Sky with our hands, & we will continue to
expand it. And we made the Earth habitable; a perfect design.”
Arberry “And Heaven -- We built it with might, and we extend it wide.
And the Earth -- We spread it forth; O excellent smoothers!”
Palmer “And the Heaven - we have built it with might, and, verily, we
do surely give it ample space! And the Earth - we have spread it out;
and how well we lay it out! “
Sher Ali “O company of jinn & men! if you have power to break
through the confines of the Heavens & the Earth, then break through
them. But you cannot break through save with authority.“
Khalifa “O you jinn's & humans, if you can penetrate the outer limits
of the Heavens & the Earth, go ahead & penetrate. You cannot
penetrate without authorization.”
Arberry “O tribe of jinn and of men, if you are able to pass through
the confines of Heaven and Earth, pass through them! You shall not
pass through except with an authority.”
Palmer “O assembly of ginns and mankind! if ye are able to pass
through the confines of Heaven and Earth then pass through them!-
ye cannot pass through save by authority! “
God is described
as spreading out
the Earth while
creating it.
Likewise a baker
spreads out
dough by
flattening it.
5. All that the verses in question say is that the Universe is very
big.
“That day we will fold up Heaven like folding up the pages of a book.
As we originated the first creation so we will regenerate it. It is a
promise binding on us. That is what we will do.”
Surah 21:104 Harun Yahya
“They do not measure Allah with his true measure. The whole Earth
will be a mere handful for him on the day of resurrection the
Heavens folded up in his right hand. Glory be to him! He is exalted
above the partners they ascribe!”
Surah 39:67 Harun Yahya
Notice how Khalifa has distorted the meaning of the text & how he is out of
step with the other eleven translations.
24th August 2009 10 - Koran Science & Cosmology (Pt 1) 63
Surah 39:67 Checking the translation 2
Arberry “The Earth altogether shall be His handful on the day of
resurrection, and the Heavens shall be rolled up in his right hand. “
Palmer “While the Earth all of it is but a handful for him on the
resurrection day, and the Heavens shall be rolled up in his right
hand!”
Rodwell “For on the resurrection day the whole Earth shall be but his
handful, and in his right hand shall the Heavens be folded together.”
Sale “Since the whole Earth [shall be but] his handful, on the day of
resurrection; and the Heavens [shall be] rolled together in his right
hand.”
Irving “The whole Earth will lie within his grasp on resurrection day,
while Heaven will be folded up in his right hand. Glory be to him.”
Dawood “But on the day of resurrection he will hold the entire Earth in
his grasp and fold up the Heavens in his right hand.”
What these
verses are
referring to
is the Sky
being rolled up
on Judgement
Day.
This suggests a
belief that the
Sky was solid.
3. How come, Muslims did not realise this centuries ago?Have they
been misinterpreting the Koran?
5. The belief that the Koran describes the Big Crunch is just wishful
thinking
Sher Ali “Then he turned to the Heaven, while it was something like
smoke, and said to it and to the Earth; `Come ye both of you in
obedience, willingly or unwillingly.' They said, `We come willingly.‘”
Khalifa “Then he turned to the Sky, when it was still gas, and said to
it, and to the Earth, "Come into existence, willingly or unwillingly.“”
They said, "We come willingly."
Arberry “Then he lifted himself to Heaven when it was smoke, and
said to it and to the Earth, "Come willingly, or unwillingly!" They said,
"We come willingly." “
Palmer “Then he made for the Heaven and it was but smoke, and he
said to it and to the Earth, 'Come, ye two, whether ye will or no!'
They said, 'We come willingly!'“
The Koran says that the Earth was created at the same time or possibly
before the rest of the Universe.Modern Science says that the opposite
is true.
24th August 2009 10 - Koran Science & Cosmology (Pt 1) 75
Claim 05 - Conclusion
1. The Koran does not describe the formation of Galaxies or Star
Systems.Such concepts are not in the Koran
Rodwell “Who in six days created the Heavens and the Earth, and
whatever is between them, then mounted his Throne: the God of
mercy! Ask now of the Wise concerning Him.”
Sale “Who hath created the Heavens and the Earth, and whatever is
between them, in six days; and then ascended [his] throne; the
merciful. Ask now the knowing concerning him”.
Irving “He is the one who created Heaven and Earth as well as
whatever lies in between them, in six days. Then the mercy-giving
mounted on the throne. Ask any informed (person) about Him."
Dawood “In six days, he created the Heaven and the Earth and all
that lies between them, and then ascended the throne. Ask those
who know concerning him.
7. For the true meaning of “The Heavens and the Earth and all that
is between them”, see the diagram on the next slide.
5. The thing between Heaven (the Sky Dome) and the (Flat) Earth is
nothing more that the air above us and things such as clouds and
birds that are within it.

Response to Claim 07 (Surah 13:2 )
1. Surah 13:2 makes no reference to Stellar Evolution. The
“appointed terms” of the Sun and Moon are merely the hours of
day and night. They are not a period of billions of years.
Pickthall “When the Sun is overthrown, and when the Stars fall, And
Yusuf Ali “When the Sun (with its spacious light) is folded up; When
the Stars fall, losing their lustre; When the oceans boil over with a
swell.”
Hilali-Khan “When the Sun Kuwwirat (wound round and lost its light and
is overthrown). when the Stars shall fall; And when the seas shall
become as blazing Fire or shall overflow.”
Shakir “When the sun is covered, and when the Stars darken, and
when the seas are set on fire.”
Sher Ali “When the Sun is folded up, and when the Stars are obscured,
and when the rivers are drained away.”
Khalifa “When the Sun is rolled. The Stars are crashed into each other.
The oceans are set aflame.”
Arberry “When the Sun shall be darkened, when the Stars shall be
thrown down, when the seas shall be set boiling.”
Palmer “When the Sun is folded up, and when the Stars do fall, And
when the seas shall surge up.”
Rodwell “When the Sun shall be folded up, and when the Stars shall
fall, And when the seas shall boil.”
Sale “When the Sun shall be folded up; and when the Stars shall fall;
and when the seas shall boil.”
Irving “When the sun has been extinguished, when the stars slip out
of place, when the seas overflow.”
Dawood “When the Sun ceases to shine, when the Stars fall, when
the seas are set alight.”
5. Stars are describes as little objects that can fall to Earth. This
demonstrates a complete ignorance of the true nature of Stars.
7. The boiling of the Oceans cannot be due to the heat of the Sun
since it has gone out.Verse 12 implies that it is the heat of Hell
below that is causing the Oceans to boil, rather than the Sun.
According to the
Koran, the Stars
are just little
lights attached to
the solid Sky.
Arberry “We have adorned the lower Heaven with the adornment of
the Stars.”
Palmer “Verily, we have adorned the lower Heaven with the
adornment of the Stars.”
Rodwell “We have adorned the lower Heaven with the adornment of
the Stars.”
Sale “We have adorned the lower Heaven with the ornament of the
Stars.”
Irving “We have beautified the worldly Sky with the splendour of Stars
.”
Dawood “We have decked the lower Heaven with Constellations.”
“Allah is the Light of the Heavens & the Earth. The similitude of His light
is as a niche wherein is a lamp. The lamp is in a glass. The glass
is as it were a shining star. (This lamp is) kindled from a blessed tree,
an olive neither of the East nor of the West, whose oil would almost
glow forth (of itself) though no fire touched it. Light upon light . Allah
guideth unto His light whom He will. And Allah speaketh to mankind in
allegories, for Allah is Knower of all things.”
3. The wording of the verse clearly says that the words are
metaphorical or symbolic and not literal. They refer to Gods light
or spirit being in the hearts of people. This is a traditional Muslim
interpretation.
5. Surah 24:36 says that the lamp is within peoples houses and so
it cannot be a literal Star.
Surah 57:25
Harun Yahya
Arberry “And we sent down iron, wherein is great might, and many
uses for men.”
Palmer “And we sent down iron in which is both keen violence and
advantages to men.”
Rodwell “And we have sent down iron. Dire evil resideth in it, as well
as advantage, to mankind!”
Sale “And we sent [them] down iron, wherein is mighty strength for
war, and [various] advantages unto mankind.”
Irving “We have sent iron down laden with grim violence as well as
(other) benefits for mankind.”
Dawood “We have sent down Iron with its mighty strength and
diverse uses for mankind.”
3. All the Surah says about Iron is that it came down from the
Sky.
It is believed that in
Pre-Islamic times,
Meteorites were worshiped
by local Arabs who thought
that they were sent
down from Heaven.

Surah 32:5 & Surah 70:4
Pickthall “And they will bid thee hasten on the doom, and Allah faileth not
His promise, but lo! a day with Allah is as a thousand years of what ye
reckon.”
Yusuf Ali “Yet they ask thee to hasten on the punishment! But God will
not fail in his promise. Verily a day in the sight of thy lord is like a
thousand years of your reckoning.”
Hilali-Khan ”And they ask you to hasten on the torment! And Allah fails
not his promise. And verily, a day with your lord is as a thousand years
of what you reckon.”
Shakir “And they ask you to hasten on the punishment, and Allah will by
no means fail in his promise, and surely a day with your Lord is as a
thousand years of what you number.”
Sher Ali “And they demand of thee to hasten on the punishment, but
Allah will never break his promise. And, verily, a day with thy Lord is
sometimes as a thousand years of your reckoning.”
Khalifa “They challenge you to bring retribution, and God never fails
to fulfil his prophecy. A day of your lord is like a thousand of your
years. “
Arberry “And they demand of thee to hasten the chastisement! God
will not fail His promise; and surely a day with thy lord is as a
thousand years of your counting.”
Palmer “They will bid thee hasten on the torment, but God will never
fail in his promise; for, verily, a day with thy lord is as a thousand
years of what ye number.”
Rodwell “And they will bid thee to hasten the chastisement. But God
cannot fail his threat. And verily, a day with thy lord is as a thousand
years, as ye reckon them! “
Sale “They will urge thee to hasten the [threatened] punishment; but
God will not fail [to perform] what he hath threatened: And verily [one]
day with thy lord [is] as a thousand years, of those which ye
compute”.
Irving “They try to make you hurry up the torment! God will never go
back on His promise; a day with your Lord is like a thousand years
such as those you count by.”
Dawood “They bid you hasten the scourge.God will not fail his
promise. Each day of your lords is like a thousand years in your
reckoning.”
“The angels and the spirit ascend unto Him in a day, the measure of which was
fifty thousand years.“
Surah 70:4
This verse refers to the ascent of angels and the spirit (meant to be Gabriel) back to heaven
after settling all matters of life in the universe. The verse clearly said a day that "was"
& not a day that 'is', which clearly indicates that that day was in the past (50,000 years ago).
"…A day relative to your God is equivalent to a thousand years of your count."
Surah 22:47
With a few simple equations:
If 1 day (for God) = 1000 years (for man)
1 year = 1000 x 365 (for man)
= 365,000 years
50,000 years (for God) = 365,000 x 50,000 (for man)
= 18.25 billion!
http://www.submission.org/universe.html
"Consequently, because this is so and the report on the authority of the Messenger
of God is sound- namely, that he reported that what remained of the time of this
world during his lifetime was half a day, or five hundred years, since five
hundred years are half a day of the days, of which one is a thousand years
- the conclusion is that the time of this world that had elapsed to the moment
of the Prophet's statement corresponds to what we have transmitted on the
authority of Abu Tha'labah al-Khushani from the Prophet, and is 6,500 years or
approximately 6,500 years. God knows best!"
Sher Ali “All praise belongs to Allah who created the Heavens and
the Earth and brought into being darkness and light; yet those who
disbelieve set up equals to their lord.”
Khalifa “Praise be to God, who created the Heavens and the Earth,
and made the darkness and the light. Yet, those who disbelieve in
their lord continue to deviate.”
Arberry “Praise belongs to God who created the Heavens and the
Earth and appointed the shadows and light; then the unbelievers
Palmer “Praise belongs to God who created the Heavens and the
Earth, and brought into being the darkness and the light. Yet do
those who misbelieve hold him to have peers.”
Rodwell “Praise be to God, who hath created the Heavens and the
Earth, and ordained the darkness and the light! Yet unto their lord do
the infidels give peers!”
Sale “Praise be unto God, who hath created the Heavens and the
Earth, and hath ordained the darkness and the light; nevertheless
they who believe not in the lord, equalize [other gods with him].”
Irving “Praise be to God, who created Heaven and Earth and
granted darkness and light! Yet those who disbelieve make other
things equal to their lord.”
Dawood “Praise be to God who created the Heavens and the Earth
and ordained light and darkness.Yet the unbelievers set up other
gods as equals with their lord.”
Sher Ali “And there is not hidden from thy lord even an atom's weight
in the Earth or in Heaven. And there is nothing smaller than that or
greater, but it is recorded in a clear book.”
Khalifa “Not even an atom's weight is out of your lord's control, be it
in the Heavens or the Earth. Nor is there anything smaller than an
atom, or larger, that is not recorded in a profound record.
Arberry “And not so much as the weight of an ant in Earth or Heaven
escapes from thy lord, neither is aught smaller than that, or greater,
but in a manifest book.“
Palmer “Nor does the weight of an atom escape thy lord in Earth or
in Heaven; nor is there less than that or greater, but it is in the
perspicuous book.”
Ibn Kathir writing almost 700 years ago would not have had any modern
preconceptions or prejudices, yet he fails to detect any references
Sub-atomic particles in these verses.
This is because there are no such references in the verses.

Pickthall “Lo! Allah (it is) Who splitteth the grain of corn and the date-
stone (for sprouting). He bringeth forth the living from the dead, and is
the bringer-forth of the dead from the living. Such is Allah.”
Yusuf Ali “It is God Who causeth the seed-grain and the date-stone to
split and sprout. He causeth the living to issue from the dead, and He is
the one to cause the dead to issue from the living.”
Hilali-Khan “Verily! It is Allah Who causes the seedgrain and the
fruitstone (like datestone, etc.) to split and sprout. He brings forth the
living from the dead, and it is He Who brings forth the dead from the
living.”
Shakir “Surely Allah causes the grain and the stone to germinate; He
brings forth the living from the dead and He is the bringer forth of the
dead from the living; that is Allah! how are you then turned away.”
Sher Ali “Verily, it is Allah Who causes the grain and the date-stones
to sprout. He brings forth the living from the dead, and he is the
bringer forth of the dead from the living.”
Khalifa “God is the one who causes the grains and the seeds to
crack and germinate. He produces the living from the dead, and the
dead from the living."
Arberry “It is God who splits the grain and the date-stone, brings
forth the living from the dead; he brings forth the dead too from the
living.”
Palmer “Verily, God it is who cleaves out the grain and the date-
stone; he brings forth the living from the dead, and it is he who
brings the dead from the living.”
Rodwell “Verily God causeth the grain and the date stone to put
forth: He bringeth forth the living from the dead, and the dead from
the living! This is God!“
Sale “God causeth the grain, and the date-stone to pour forth: He
bringeth forth the living from the dead, and he bringeth forth the
dead from the living.”
Irving “God is the one who splits the seed and kernel, he brings the
living from the dead, and is the one who brings the dead from the
living.”
Dawood “It is God who splits the seed and the fruit stone. He brings
forth the living from the dead and the dead from the living.”

it refers to “Yin” and “Yang” which could be interpreted as matter
and anti-matter.
