Rules of the Game, in order to preserve a peaceful environment for learning on and around Campus and to encourage class participation:

You MUST always dress in a decent manner, make sure that you have buttoned your shirt and fixed your collar. You MUST remain seated, ready with your books, notebook, pen and course outline before I enter into the classroom, those who are not seated and ready, will not be allowed to attend the class. Nobody will be allowed to enter into the class after me. So, NEVER request. You MUST NEVER request to enter or leave the class once it starts.

If I do not find the class completely quiet upon arrival, the whole class will lose grades and those who are causing the disturbance will receive additional punishment. You MUST put your cell phones into silent mode, NO vibration. If you are caught using your phone in class or if your phone rings, it will be seized.

There is only one way to get attendance, that is, answer when I call your name. If you wish to speak, you MUST raise your hand and WAIT for my permission. You MUST listen carefully and NEVER interfere while someone is talking.

You MUST NOT make any unnecessary noise with books, pens, papers, chair, table, feet and so on. If you need to move a chair, lift it, do not make any noise.

Whether you are walking or seated, NEVER make any disturbing noise with your feet/shoe; DO NOT drag your feet while walking. You MUST NOT make suggestions, comments or discuss, raise irrelevant matters.

You MUST always be polite and respectful towards each other, NEVER call each other names (tease names), NEVER use any slang.

You MUST always speak loud and clear enough so that everyone in the class can hear and understand you; it is your duty to communicate effectively.
You MUST always maintain discipline and sharpness.

For lecture sheets, score sheets, group and other necessary information, ask the CR first, do not come directly to me; you MUST follow the chain of command.

You MUST always bring the COURSE OUTLINE and BOOKS to the class. There will be surprise checking, if you are found without any of them, you will lose marks.

You MUST always carry a dictionary and NEVER ask me any words meaning. Always remember to write your name, student ID, date, course code & batch code in any document that you submit. Whenever you need to write batch code in MY course, write in this manner ONLY 8A. DO NOT WRITE 8th A or 8th batch, Section A etc.

You MUST always use English with me, only I may use Bengali for the purpose of communication from time to time as required.

You MUST always maintain a pleasant body language; expressions of annoyance in any form are strictly prohibited. Once I give my decision regarding a particular matter, you MUST NEVER try to insist/ pursue/ negotiate with me. Always remember, my Yes and No are final.
If you are sick and going to miss a few classes, you MUST inform me immediately if you wish to apply for an exemption later.

If, because of a genuinely unavoidable circumstance, you miss any deadline or examination, you MUST sms/email me immediately (on the same day) if you wish to apply for an extension. It is YOUR duty to communicate with ME successfully; DO NOT contact the CR, SMS/Email ME! If you fail to do so, you MUST NOT ask for an extension later or discuss this matter.

Always mention your name, ID and batch code in sms or email.

If you miss any deadline or examination and I allow you to submit an application for extension, you MUST submit an application along with supporting documents (such as medical prescription or certificate etc.). The application MUST BE signed by you and your parent/guardian. After I review your application and verify the supporting documents, I will decide whether to allow an extension or not. Please note that if your application and supporting documents do not satisfy me, you will not get an extension. Please note that make-up mid-term exam question and marking both will be very hard, so you MUST plan to attend the regular exam.

Remember, speaking without my permission will be considered a serious offense.

DONT JUST OPEN YOUR MOUTH; THINK BEFORE YOU SPEAK! If you come to my desk and do not see me there, DO NOT ask anyone around regarding my whereabouts, instead, CALL ME. If I cannot answer your call, please leave a message mentioning your BATCH CODE, NAME, ID and REASON FOR CALLING.

You MUST always stand in the queue for lift and any other place where a queue is applicable in a disciplined manner; make sure that you leave enough space for others to pass by; keep enough distance with the person in front of you and make sure that you do not breathe on his/her neck. Refer to lift manners. Behave yourself in the lift, corridors and other relevant places; do not start a personal conversation or call each other names. Never stand or walk slowly blocking the corridors, entrances, exits, footpaths, streets and so on; care for others.

Never gather a crowd that may disturb others; e.g. classes. You MUST read the course outline and these RULES carefully and make sure that you understand and follow them. Its VERY IMPORTANT!!! If you wish to do well in this course, you MUST make sure that your hand writing is easy to read, your English is good and you have understood the rules mentioned above and followed them perfectly.

The rules mentioned above are directly connected to your class participation marks and overall performance and grade. Any violation of the above rules will result in penalty, losing marks and if required, you may be asked to see me in the office or bring your parents/guardian and show cause or discuss the matter with the Faculty of Business, ASA University Bangladesh. If you observe the rules and participate in the class in an active and positive manner, you will be rewarded with good marks and grade.

Purpose of University and Education

The only purpose of education is to teach a student how to live his life by developing his mind and equipping him to deal with reality. The training he needs is theoretical, i.e., conceptual. He has to be taught to think, to understand, to integrate, to prove. He has to be taught the essentials of the knowledge discovered in the past and he has to be equipped to acquire further knowledge by his own effort.
