The main principle of use zoning is to di"ide the city into

RESIDENTIAL ZONE:
1. This is the most important section or zone where

the people of the town li"e together in large number. 2. The buildings coming under this zone are
detached single family houses, 2. semi+detached houses, -. group housing, /. Chawl, flats, s$y+scrapers, etc

This zone consists of

IND STRIAL ZONE:


This zone co"ers an area of 16 to 256. This is ne7t to the residential zone in importance. 0ence great care should be e7ercised in locating

the industries. As a rule this should be away from other zones and planned leeward of the town so that no dangerous gases pass o"er it. This zone is further di"ided into sections containing
minor, light, medium and hea"y industries

Minor industries li$e ba$eries, dairies, laundries may be grouped and located close to the residential zone for the benefit of inhabitants. Lig!t industries and fa"tories li$e manufacture of glass, porcelain, and ice etc. which use only electric power and not solid fuel do not cause any real nuisance. 0ence they may be located anywhere on the periphery of the town. Medium industries such as cotton mills, oil mills, sugar mills produce noisy atmosphere and undesirable wastes.
