MBTS Overview
The 3900 series multi-mode base stations feature a modular design. The BBU3900 and the RF module (MRFU/RRU3908) are connected through
The basic modules of the 3900 series multi-mode base stations are the baseband unit BBU3900, the outdoor remote radio unit RRU3908, and
Page5
The BBU3900 has a case structure. It can be installed in a 19-inch-wide and 2 U-high indoor space or outdoor protective cabinet, for example, indoor wall, staircase, storerooms, or outdoor cabinets in the existing network

Commissioning Resources
Before commissioning, you need to ensure that the required tools are available, obtain the information about the base station to be commissioned, and download the correct software for boards used in the base station
Tools: PC, Multimeter, Power Meter, Site Master, GSM MSs for testing, Ethernet cable, Serial port cable, Flat-head screwdriver, Light emitting diode (LED)
Page38
Hardware Requirements
The base station hardware is installed and the cables are connected.
The base station has passed the hardware installation check before it is powered on.
The base station is powered on, and the boards operate normally as indicated by the LEDs on the boards.
The base station controller is installed. The system commissioning is complete, and the system is operating properly.
Software Requirements
The data of the base station is configured on the base station controller. An adaptation layer version matching the base station to be commissioned is installed on the M2000 server

Check the status of the CPRI0 LED on the GTMU panel of the BBU and the status of the CPRI0 and CPRI1 LEDs in the RFU panel
If all the LEDs are in the on in green status, the communication between the CPRI0 port on the BBU and the RFU is normal

CPRI connections:
The ports SFP0 to SFP5 in the RXU Topology Structure area on the LMT correspond to CPRI0 to CPRI5 on the panel of the BBU.
Slots of RXUs:
On the LMT, RFUs are configured in subrack 4. The slot numbers of RFUs start from slot 0, on the basis of the configuration sequence of RF units. During the RFU installation, the slots of RFUs are determined based on the actual requirements. The subracks where the RRUs are configured are virtual subracks. The subrack number ranges from 60 to 254. During the RRU installation, the slots of RRUs are determined based on the actual requirements.

Power on one test MS, and check that the Ms automatically searches for the GSM network
Lock the test MS on a specific frequency. Change the status of one or two TCHs on the frequency from Locked to Unlocked. Then, conduct the call tests on this TCH.
Ensure that all calls are successful, the conversion is normal, and voice quality
is clear.
Test short message service (SMS) as follows: Use two testing MSs to send SMS messages to each other, and ensure that all the SMS messages are successfully sent and received.

Enable the MS to support the GPRS or EGPRS services. Then, test PS services through multiservice testing. PS service test involves sending multimedia message, browsing WebPages, and downloading files.
Check whether the MS can successfully send multimedia messages, browse WebPages, and download files.
