ThinkTap in Schools

Once upon a time...

Doordarshan was the only channel on TV. Children loved to play street cricket every evening. Collection of marbles and kites were things to be proud of. Ludo was the simplest game to play. Kids were really kids.

Happy. Carefree. Innocent.

Childhood has changed a lot today.

But are todays children happier than the ones in 90s?

Think Again?

Children on an average are growing more lonely and

depressed, more angry and undisciplined, more nervous and anxious and more impulsive and aggressive.

It is evident that a rising IQ with a dropping EQ is the problem.

To develop the EQ skills of children is not only an OPTION but an ABSOLUTE NECESSITY!
-Daniel Goleman

Emotional Intelligence Defined

The capacity for recognising our own feelings and those of others, for motivating ourselves and managing emotions well in ourselves and in our relationships
-Daniel Goleman

Why EQ is dropping?
Kids spend endless hours playing games on the mobile and computer. Limiting their creativity and imagination.

No Outdoor Sports

Hard-wired for high speed, kids are struggling with self regulation, self worth, anxiety, sadness, loneliness and other emotional issues.

Can EQ be taught?
Studies have shown that we are born with our IQ

but can develop our EQ.

Just as a child learns to get dressed, eat with a spoon, brush his teeth, and wave goodbye they must be taught to regulate their emotions and thought process.

Research
According to research, EQ far more than IQ determines how successful and happy your life will be. Emotional

Intelligence accounts for 80 percent of our success in

life, while IQ accounts for the remaining 20 percent. Research shows that children with better EQ perform

better academically and make healthier choices.

Performance of students in schools that implement Emotional Intelligence programmes go up by 50%.

K-12 students who received Emotional Intelligence training scored an average of 11 percentile points higher on standardized achievement tests. A 2011 study using data collected from 17,000 British infants followed over 50 years found that a childs positive EQ is strongly linked to their future success. Studies have found that kids who develop EQ skills are more likely to do well at work, have longer marriages

and suffer less from depression and anxiety.

Our Programmes
Celebrate You is about encouraging

children to feel good about themselves,

both inside and out. High Self Esteem is like a childs shield against the challenges of life. Children who feel good about their strengths and weaknesses are more likely to have a positive outlook, feel confident about

themselves and handling conflicts.

I Think, I Am is all about positivity

in action and speech. We encourage children to notice and say good things about oneself through positive statements called Affirmations. This module is a great way to instill positive beliefs and happy, uplifting thoughts in children.

Escape the Red Dragon is all about anger management. Anger is a very powerful emotion and seen as a common problem among children of todays generation. This module helps children learn positive ways to manage their anger. It teaches

them different techniques in identifying

their individual triggers and also unique strategies that will help them manage the volcano within.

Impossible says I.M.Possible is all about helping them set specific yet progressive goals. By creating goals and benchmarks through this module, we make sure that children are not afraid of setting big goals for themself remain motivated in achieving them without getting

distracted. We want them to compete against

themselves rather than against others. We are going to help them realise their potential and then make an extra effort to surpass it every time.
