Oculesics
 - the use of the eyes in a
communication setting.
A young mom plays hide and seek with her wide-eyed baby, when the
phone starts ringing.
As 'mommy' goes to pick it up, our little friend makes an attempt to
stand up with the help of a shelf.
Success finally greets our hero as he starts walking without any help.
'Mommy' can't believe her eyes when she sees her baby take his first
step.
MVO: "Vitamin D se bharpoor Johnson's Baby Oil."
MVO: "Experts ka kehna hai, rozana maalish shishu ke leye
faidemand hai."
The tiny-tot with his wobbly walk finally rushes into his mother's
waiting arms.
MVO: "Zindagi ka pehla kadam ab naye Johnson's Baby Oil ke saath."
Chronemics
 Study of the use of time in nonverbal
communication.
The TVC opens on Anil Kapoor writing something down in a
diary.
He tells about the day he went to his dad to talk about his
wish to become an actor. When his father told him to be
prepared to struggle.
His father told him he cannot give him anything other that the
Mont Blanc pen synonymous to the power of writing your own
destiny.
Years later he finds him in a similar situation when Sonam
walks to him and tell him that she wishes to be an actress.
He tells her the same thing about not expecting any support
from her father.
He handles her the same pen as a legacy flowing from
generations. He says: "Like my father said - the power to
write your own destiny."
She happily hugs her father.
The TVC ends with a super: "Mont Blanc - A story to tell.”
Haptics
 The study of the sense of touch.
Seeing someone a girl gets conscious and unfolds her
jeans.
Cut to a shot of another girl feeling the same as she
pulls up her tracks in her yoga class.
Another girl listening to the jukebox hides her skin
under her scarf.
Similarly a girl having tea pulls down her sleeve to hide
her arm.
Cut to a shot of Kareena Kapoor walking with
confidence and panache as the girls look at her in awe.
VO: “Twacha ho khoobsurat, toh darr kaisa?...
...Anne French hair remover, moisturisers aur vitamin E
ke saath, jo har tarah ki twacha ko banaye Khoobsurat
aur silky smooth.”
The ad film comes to an end as Kareena declares,
“Beautiful skin is in.”
Kinesics
 The study of body movements, gestures, facial expressions, etc.
Looking at girls on their way to college, a bunch of college guys tease them: “Aai-hai,
umar hai sola, kamar Coca-Cola” and start whistling.
Turning back, one of the girls tells the boy who had whistled: “Jaaiye, yeh bhi koi seeti
hai? Jaise pressure cooker mein daal chadi ho. Phus.”
As the guy starts getting embarrassed, the girl explains him, “jab ladki se sunni ho
karari si gaali, toh aise bajate hain mawali” and teaches him the way to whistle.
Making the guy more humiliated, the girl further explains, “aur agar shauk ho sandle
chhapwane ka, toh kuch is tarah bajane ka” and shows him another way to whistle.
Turning to her friends the girl
tells them, “aur doston, jisne bhi yeh
ghoonga seeti bajayi, hawalat mein ghoosa-laat. Poori raat.” As the guys find place...
...to hide their faces, our girl cont-
inues, “haan agar aapko nahin banna
hai rude, toh thanda seeti bajaiyega, dude” and whistles using a Coke bottle.
Handling the guy the Coke bottle, the girl tells him, “faisla aapka, aakhir hawa hai
aapki” leaving
...guys totally embarrassed. The girl takes a sip of Coca-Cola and concludes, “thande ka
tadka”.
Proxemics
 The study of spatial distances between individuals
in different cultures and situations.
A guy enters his bathroom with a toothbrush and paste in hand.
He gets down to business and starts brushing his teeth. MVO: "Zara...
...sochiye agar har baar daant brush karte samay aapko mile..." We
now see another person helping him brush.
Soon a crowd of people arrive to assist him. MVO: "...barah dental
experts ki dekhbaal."
MVO: "Naya Colgate Total 12. Clinically sabit hai ki iska anokha
formula, daanton aur masoodon ki...
...sabhi barah problems se ladta hai. Poore barah ghanto tak. Barah
experts ki team ho jaise aapke daanton ke liye."
Pleased with the service he looks at himself with satisfaction. MVO:
"Barah problems, barah ghante sampoorna...
...suraksha. Colgate Total 12,
Bhartiya dentists ki number one
pasand."

Common interview questions

 Question: Tell me about yourself.

Answer: Identify some of your main attributes and memorise them. Describe your qualifications, career
history and range of skills, emphasising those skills relevant to the job on offer.
 Q: What have your achievements been to date?
A: Select an achievement that is work-related and fairly recent. Identify the skills you used in the
achievement and quantify the benefit it had to the company. For example, 'my greatest achievement has
been to design and implement a new sales ledger system, bringing it in ahead of time and improving our
debtors' position significantly, saving the company £50,000 a month in interest'.
 Q: Are you happy with your career-to-date?
A: This question is really about your self-esteem, confidence and career aspirations. The answer must be
'yes', followed by a brief explanation as to what it is about your career so far that's made you happy. If
you have hit a career plateau, or you feel you are moving too slowly, then you must qualify your answer.
 Q: What is the most difficult situation you have had to face and how did you tackle it?
A: The purpose of this question is to find out what your definition of difficult is and whether you can show
a logical approach to problem solving. In order to show yourself in a positive light, select a difficult work
situation which was not caused by you and which can be quickly explained in a few sentences. Explain
how you defined the problem, what the options were, why you selected the one you did and what the
outcome was. Always end on a positive note.
 Q: What do you like about your present job?
A: This is a straightforward question. All you have to do is make sure that your 'likes' correspond to the
skills required for the job on offer. Be enthusiastic; describe your job as interesting and diverse but do
not overdo it - after all, you are looking to leave.
 Q: What do you dislike about your present job?
A: Be cautious with this answer. Do not be too specific as you may draw attention to weaknesses that will
leave you open to further problems. One approach is to choose a characteristic of your present company,
such as its size or slow decision-making processes etc. Give your answer with the air of someone who
takes problems and frustrations in your stride as part of the job.
 Q: What are your strengths?
A: This is one question that you know you are going to get so there is no
excuse for being unprepared. Concentrate on discussing your main strengths.
List three or four proficiencies e.g. your ability to learn quickly, determination to
succeed, positive attitude, your ability to relate to people and achieve a
common goal. You may be asked to give examples of the above so be
prepared.
 Q: What is your greatest weakness?
A: Do not say you have none - this will lead to further problems. You have two
options - use a professed weakness such as a lack of experience (not ability) on
your part in an area that is not vital for the job. The second option is to
describe a personal or professional weakness that could also be considered to
be a strength and the steps you have taken to combat it. An example would be:
"I know my team think I'm too demanding at times - I tend to drive them
pretty hard but I'm getting much better at using the carrot and not the stick".
 Q: Why do you want to leave your current employer?
A: State how you are looking for a new challenge, more responsibility,
experience and a change of environment. Do not be negative in your reasons
for leaving. It is rarely appropriate to cite salary as your primary motivator.
 Q: Why have you applied for this particular job?
A: The employer is looking for evidence that the job suits you, fits in with your
general aptitudes, coincides with your long-term goals and involves doing
things you enjoy. Make sure you have a good understanding of the role and
the organisation, and describe the attributes of the organisation that interest
you most.
Q. Do you consider yourself successful? You should always answer yes and
briefly explain why. A good explanation is that you have set goals, and you
have met some and are on track to achieve the others.
THANK YOU
