Disk Types
ATA - 250GB, 320GB and 500GB disk drives - Drive Carriers, Paddle Cards - Disk drives with a single PATA interface - Disk drives with a single SATA interface - Disk drives with dual SATA interfaces - Low Cost

Fibre Channel Drives

Enterprise class Devices 9,18,36,73,146 and 300 GB disks with 10000 rpm. 18,36 and 73 GB also available with 15000 rpm. Provides Advanced seek optimizations, high Rotational speed. High Cost and performance.

Vault Drives and PSM

Reserved area found on specific protected disks. Drives 0-3 in DAE-OS contains the SP boot information Drives 0-4 in DAE-OS are used for Cache Vault During power failures, data can be temporarily dumped into it and can be restored back Persistent Storage Manager (PSM) Lun

Cache
Cache is very fast memory, also a repository for frequently accessed data. Two Parts: - Data Store - Tag RAM Read cache Write Cache

Flare
An Operating Environment which provides features like - Clariion Meta Lun technology - Clariion Virtual Lun technology Access Logix

Navisphere
Clariion Management Software. Navisphere Manager GUI - Discover, Monitor, Apply and Provision, Report. Navisphere CLI Navisphere Suite Navisphere manager, Navisphere Analyser, Navisphere Agent.

Raid Groups
Collection of physical drives from which an administrator may bind one or more luns.
All Drives in a Raid group share the same raid type May include disks from any enclosure. Drive Types cannot be mixed.

Creating a Raid Group

Luns
LUN is a Logical Unit When presented to a host it is assigned a Logical Unit Number and it appears to the host as a disk drive Process of creating a lun is called Lun Binding. Upto 128 Luns in a Raid group Upto 2048 Luns per clariion array All LUNs in the RAID Group have the same RAID type

Binding a Lun

Storage Groups
A container which have a group of Luns assigned to a server A server can access only the luns in the storage group to which it is assigned Access Logix software limits the server access to luns through the storage groups

Creating a storage Group

Powerpath
Host resident software Provides Multipathing feature Load Balancing Automatic path Failover Maximum 32 paths to a Logical Volume

Replication Technologies
Local Replication - Snapview snapshot - Snapview clone Remote Replication - Mirrorview/S - Mirrorview/A - SAN Copy

MetaLUNs are LUN objects created from multiple, smaller LUN objects. The intent of a metaLUN is to provide dynamic expansion of a hosts capacity without forcing the host to integrate another LUN at the operating system. Navisphere Manager simplifies and automates the management of the storage infrastructure. Navisphere Analyser allows the investigation of performance and trends. PowerPath offers multi-path access between CX arrays and attached servers, and also dynamically balances the I/O load over all channels. SnapView creates point-in-time snapshots and full-copy clones of production data for faster backup and restore operations. MirrorView performs remote data mirroring for data protection and application recoverability in the event of disaster. SAN Copy enables high-speed data
copying between multi-vendor storage arrays.
