Policy shift in world-trade ( WTO, IMF, World Bank) Trade is means for distribution of income, resources, prosperity and global peace. Workers Participation in Management Businesses are seen as crating jobs for society and expected to obey laws and pay taxes

Washington Consensus- Set of policies that Countries had to adopt if they were to receive assistance from WB / WTO Post- 1960 = Attention toward environmental degradation- Greenpeace formation- Women-right movement equality in the workplace1984-1987- GATT 1992- Rio Summit Importance of Environmental Concern .. 2010-11 Copenhagen- .. Quality of Work Life.

Globalisation:
A) Meaning : Countries coming together economically and politically. 1. Economic Liberalism: The process to achieve sustainable economic growth by creating Global Market based on free trade. 2. Deterritorialisation: Its a social condition. End of Geography ( Fukuyama- 1989). Combination of Technological innovations, Policy shift & Power relations. 3. Creation of new social order Expanded social relations intensified and accelerated interaction in these relationsgrowing consciousness of interconnectedness & interdependence.

B) Impact
1. International trade- Increased Created jobs in many countries Allows new industries to grow Encouraged transfer of technology. Increased flow of capital. Allowed educated people to pursue opportunities across the globe. 2. Expansion of Developing economies ( China & India) New technology.. Cultural Shift Urbanisation..!

3. Benefits were unevenly distributed within and between countries.. Political backlash in response to perceived efforts.. Rich countries use their power to their advantage in institutions such as IMF, WB.
4. Liberlisation in developing nations.. ( revival of govt.policies)

2nd Era of Globalisation:

Outsourcing , Off shoring, Mobility, Downsizing Labour Focus Focus on wages, Child-labour, working hours, discrimination, Occupational Health & Safety

Small Farmers & Unskilled workers are out of race


Right to choose a way of life.
