The term extended family defines a family that extends beyond the nuclear family, consisting of grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins all living nearby or in the same household.(wiki) Usually, the extended family has three generations living under the same roof. (For instance, a extended family in Africa may have up to five generations in one household due to young marriageable age.) The number of extended family is currently in a decline as a result of the growth in wealth and need for privacy.
A childless family is a family without a children.

On the other hand, couples who remain childless may enjoy freedom and avoid financial pressure; thus improve their marriages quality. Single-parent families are families with children under age 18 headed by a parent who is widowed or divorced and not remarried, or by a parent who has never married.
