CATIA TUTORIAL

SKETCHER
We are going to sketch the
following:
1. Go to Start Mechanical Design Sketches.
2. Select a plane. (Click on the XY plane).
3. Click on this icon to create a rectangle.
4. Next, put the dimension as below using the
constraint icon .
5. Double click at the dimensions. Put in the following:
length along x axis 120, length along y axis 163.
6. Create 4 circles using the circle icon .
7. Modify the dimensions of each of the circles to
be of radius 25, 20, 10 and 10 mm respectively.
8. Click on the vertical line. Then press Ctrl and click on
the circle (R25).
9. Click constraint define in dialog box . Click on tangent
in the dialog box.

10. Repeat the procedure by clicking the horizontal line and
the circle. You should get as the picture below.
11. Repeat the procedure with the R20 circle.
12. Add lines into the sketch.
13. Align the lines accordingly with circles.
14. Tangent the lines with the circles where necessary.
15. Click on the lines tangential to the circle R25 (use Ctrl),
then the constraint icon.
16. Modify the angle to 15 .
17. Repeat the same procedure for the circle R20. Modify
the dimension to be 25 .
18. Click on the Quick Trim icon to trim off the
unwanted parts. Your sketch should look like the picture
below once trimming is done.
19. Click on the vertical line and the axis to which you want
the line to coincide with.
20. In the constraint definition dialog box, click on
coincidence.
21. Add circles to the sketch as shown. The circle above
should be 15 mm in radius while the circle below should
be 10 mm in radius.
22. Make a horizontal line 35 mm from the vertical line.
23. From the end of the line, make a vertical line (the
length of the line to be decided by you.)
24. Trim the 35 mm horizontal line.
25. Click on the all remaining parts of the sketch.
25. Click on the mirror icon to mirror the image.
26. Click on the coincidence axis when prompted.
27. Make a circle at the bottom of the sketch and make a
line to tangentially align the circle.
28. Repeat the procedure with another circle on the other
side.
29. Trim the necessary elements.
30.Find the elongated hole icon and click on it to create an
elongated hole as shown.
31. Click on the middle line of the sketch and the middle
line if the elongated hole
32. Coincide the two lines.
33. The elongated hole will move to the middle of the
sketch.
