1. Distinguish Institutional and
Programme accreditation and mention
the significance of programme
accreditation in international context.

Institutional Accreditation:
It is the assessment of the overall quality and
standards such as faculty qualifications, research
activities, infrastructure, student intake etc. of an
institution.
Programme Accreditation:
It is the assessment of a programme offered in the
institution and the professional competencies
of the graduates.


Significance of Programme Accreditation in
international context:

To maintain the quality and standards of the
programme offered in an institution with
international standards.

To recognize the engineering degrees in other
countries.
2. Describe the accreditation model practiced
by permanent members of Washington Accord
(WA) and it what aspects it differs from previous
NBAs accreditation model (2009 version).

Accreditation Model of Washington Accord:
Outcome Based Education (OBE).
Helps the students what they can do after they are taught.
Learner Centric.


NBA Accreditation Model (2009):
Output Based Education
Students were examined based on the relevant contents
taught.
Traditional Teacher Centric.
3. List the observations made on
the present (2013) and previous
(2009)accreditation criteria of NBA.

NBA ACCREDIATION CRITERIA (2009)
Assessment process is divided into 8
criteria.
Criteria I and II are institute specific
(campus infrastructure and facilities
and Evaluation and teaching
learning process)
III and IV are program specific
(students intake and output and
faculty contributions).
Criteria V and VI are department
infrastructure and technical support
and continuous improvements
respectively.
Criteria VII and VIII are curriculum
and programme educational
objectives respectively.

4. Comment on the relevance and
significance of the programme specific
criteria with your programme faculty
competency.

There are quite few points which explains the program
specific criteria. They are termed as program educational
objectives (PEOs).

The faculty members are recruited based on the PEOs.

The candidates who are strong in the basic
fundamentals related to the program are selected as
faculty members. They have to be specialized in any one
of the fields associated with the program like Aerospace,
Avionics, Aircraft Maintenance Engineering Streams.

Thus when they teach the courses related to the program,
they understand the expected outcome of their course and plan the
curriculum, teaching methods according to the requirement.

Therefore selecting the right candidate for the program is
essential in motivating the students as well as guiding them for life
long learning process
