Incident Detail
Land transport of Cobalt 60 from Puerto Princesa to
CBNC plant site in Rio Tuba, Palawan. The travel time
is around five hours. Somewhere in Narra, theres an
on-going road repair. On the detour, an overtaking
motorcycle suddenly appeared which caused the
driver to change direction and eventually bump into a
coconut tree.

In this case: No spillage/ leakage was
observed

Step 1:

Notify the consignor, consignee, and
local authorities including PNRI, police, fire
department, and medical personnel.
How to Deal with the Incident
Step 2:

Perform life saving actions (i.e. first aid)
on victims having severe injuries. Human
life is a priority.

Isolate the area by putting barricades,
radiation signage, and danger tapes to
minimize exposures to the public and
responding authorities.

Identification of hazards. This
includes finding spillage, leakage,
fire, and contamination.

Risk assessment and execution of
relative actions to control the identified
hazards. The transport vehicle of the RAM
consignment shall be equipped to respond
to any transport accident.

Ensure that rules and regulations regarding
radioactive packaging is strictly
implemented before any shipment or
transport to prevent worse situations like
spillage and contamination .

condition before travelling to prevent
unwanted vehicle troubles.
Countermeasures
Ensure that the driver is authorized and is
equipped with proper skills.

Ensure the availability of devices and tools
in the detection and containment of
radiation in times of emergencies
