Of late, the number of suicides among television artistes has been on the rise, the last one
being actress Shraddha. To reinforce the fact this tendency should be curbed, a counselling
session was organised by the Television Artistes Association at Chennai.
Nirmal from ExNoRa, who also heads Seventh Sense, a counselling centre, gave a guest
lecture to the 100 odd artistes who had gathered there. Under the heading 'Positive Life',
Nirmal spoke about various topics like the value of human life. "One should be able to
identify between good and bad, and what one can achieve in life if they choose the right
path. Ending life will not solve any problem," he said. He further demonstrated a small
exercise each actor can practice as soon as they get up in the morning. Lifting his right
hand and showing his fingers, he said, "Treat your index finger as the self-confidence finger,
centre finger as power finger, ring finger as the achievement finger, small finger as caring
finger. As soon as you get up in the morning, look at your right hand and say 'I am a
confident person, I have all energy, I am an achiever, I am a caring person and finally raise
your thumb and say I will win'. Practice this at least five times a day and slowly you will
realise that you can face any situation. The negative thoughts will be shunned and you will
be successful in life." Veteran actress Sathyapriya also spoke on the occasion.
More than two hundred TV artistes including actors Vasanth, Rajendran, Abhishek,
Rajshekar, Bhanuprakash, Sanjeev, Kamalesh actresses KR. Savithri, Brindha, Srividhya and
Kannika attended the session.

Two gangsters turn a new leaf Our Staff Reporter
CHENNAI, FEB. 23. Two underworld gang leaders today decided to turn
over a new leaf in the presence of senior police personnel and
members of the public at Vyasarpadi.
At a function organised by Exnora International (EI), the two dons -
Vellai Ravi and Chera - whose names spelt terror in the city, promised
to give up violence and do social work. Many persons had been killed
and injured in the fight for supremacy between them. The DCP, Flower
Bazaar, Mr. Shakeel Akhter, said the police welcomed rehabilitation
programmes for those who had taken to a lawless way of life. While
warning that the police would put down rowdyism with a firm hand, he
hoped that this event would serve as an example for others to follow.
Mr. M. B. Nirmal, founder chairman EI, inducted Ravi and Chera as
``Tree Guardians'' of Exnora Green Cross. He hoped that the duo would
serve as examples for others to change. Both Ravi and Chera pledged
before the people that they would not resort to any form of violence
and promised to support social causes.

recipient of the Indira Gandhi Memorial

This award, instituted by the Andhra
Pradesh Central Public Sector Employees
Federation, was presented to Shri Nirmal
at a function held in Hyderabad on

Sense Training programme was wonderful.
While every word uttered was good, the best, of course
were Mr.Nirmals DAT, TAD & DAD Techniques. They
are very easy to implement, purposeful and practical.
After I attended the programme, I introduced these
useful techniques in my office and factory. The results
are amazing. Now I dont need to keep motivating my
staff. These techniques do that. The staff members
are becoming more creative and original.

The participants who had gathered in large numbers had to be pepped up and M
B Nirmal did it in his 7
th
Sense style. Shall we all stand up? he asked and the
audience were only too eager. Explaining the function of Mudras or finger
position, he described how important it was in expressing our energy. The
American sings his national anthem with his hand on his heart, while we doze
through Jana Gana Mana with a hand in our pocket holding firmly our purse he
observed.
He conducted a Do-along psychological exercise for positive thinking. Hold the
index finger and thumb and throw your hands out twice and say. I am self-
confident person, next the middle finger, I am an energetic person, it was the
third fingers turn to say, I am an achiever. While these statements were made
with force, the fourth, with the last finger and the thumb, I am loving person,
was also said with force and a softer version of the statement followed after
correction. The last was to hold the thumb inside the four fingers, Rambo
Style and say I am a superman and Victory is certain with a Thumbs Up,
sign to sign off. The magic it worked was indeed evident as the volunteers
energetically settled down for another round of discussions.

M. B. Nirmal spoke about unlocking the power of the subconscious during a recent "Seventh Sense"
training programme held in the city. IT IS a well-known fact that M.B. Nirmal tries to rid the city of garbage,
what is not so well-known is his avocation to rid the human mind of the "garbage" it accumulates.
At the "Seventh Sense" training programme held in the city recently, Nirmal spoke about unlocking the
power of the subconscious. A person who is capable of "programming" the subconscious with a positive
attitude finds access to boundless energy, reveals Nirmal. "Your enemy is within you... the mental blocks
that prevent you from getting your act together. By the time a person reaches his 18th birthday he gets
negatively programmed 1,48,000 times," explains Nirmal. The good news is that the subconscious can be
"re-programmed" and made subservient to you. Says Nirmal, "The subconscious can either be a reliable
ally or a deadly enemy. The power to make it an ally or enemy lies with you." The subconscious is most
susceptible to suggestion in the wee hours of the morning, from 4-7 a.m. to be precise. He taught the
participants the techniques to "condition" the subconscious during the morning hours.
What makes Nirmal's programme interesting is his ability to take off on anecdotal peregrinations. Drawing
from his personal experiences, he takes the listener to Hong Kong one moment and to a village in Tamil
Nadu, the next.
To illustrate his point that "thoughts find their way", he spoke about Manoj Night Shyamalan, the Hollywood
director.
"When Shyamalan was in school, he was asked to write an `autobiography' as an assignment. When
Shyamalan turned in his assignment, it surprised his teacher. He had used a Time magazine cover for
`autobiography' and, what's more, he had placed his photograph on the cover instead of a world leader's,"
relates Nirmal. "When the befuddled and angry teacher asked the youngster why he did that, Shyamalan
asked `Why not'.
The wonder of wonders is that Shymalan actually figured on the cover of the Time magazine."
Thoughts when focused are more powerful than battalions of soldiers. They have an uncanny knack of
finding their way, explains Nirmal.

THIRD EYE
THEY DID not turn up to seek career counselling or guidance from experts. When they were
quizzed what they wanted to achieve, there were different answers musician, an honest
politician, and academician. That they were visually impaired did not handicap their
ambitions at least.
More than 50 visually challenged persons were attending a personality development lecture
at the Youth Hostel in Indra Nagar this morning, organised by Darshini, a charitable Trust.
Delivering the lecture, M B Nirmal, Founder of ExNoRa, touched upon several issues that the
audience, mostly college students, might not have heard before.
He repeatedly stressed on the need to open up ones sub-conscious mind. That could be
accomplished through intense concentration and focus, he went on. He reminded the
students that once they succeeded in opening their sub-conscious mind or the inner eye,
as he termed, it would be possible for them to achieve whatever you want and bring the
world under their control. Looking at the way things around us are taking place,
sometimes many of us feel it would be better not to see the world, he said. But, one should
not succumb to negative happenings. He cited a few instances of how collective action of
enthusiastic youth had transformed dreams into reality be it the construction of public
conveniences in fishermens hamlet near Mamallapuram or ensuring that the Government
introduced buses to an obscure locality near Ambattur.
At the end of the lecture, the visually handicapped students might not have taken home a
certificate or any credential, but certainly have gone back with some tips which they would
find it useful in days to come.

Two gangsters turn a new leaf Our Staff Reporter
CHENNAI, FEB. 23. Two underworld gang leaders today decided to turn
over a new leaf in the presence of senior police personnel and
members of the public at Vyasarpadi.
At a function organised by Exnora International (EI), the two dons -
Vellai Ravi and Chera - whose names spelt terror in the city, promised
to give up violence and do social work. Many persons had been killed
and injured in the fight for supremacy between them. The DCP, Flower
Bazaar, Mr. Shakeel Akhter, said the police welcomed rehabilitation
programmes for those who had taken to a lawless way of life. While
warning that the police would put down rowdyism with a firm hand, he
hoped that this event would serve as an example for others to follow.
Mr. M. B. Nirmal, founder chairman EI, inducted Ravi and Chera as
``Tree Guardians'' of Exnora Green Cross. He hoped that the duo would
serve as examples for others to change. Both Ravi and Chera pledged
before the people that they would not resort to any form of violence
and promised to support social causes.
