INTRODUCTION:
If 20 or more employees are working in an establishment,
ESIC will cover that establishment

Salary/ Wage is within Rs. 15000/- per month.

Employees contribute @ 1.75% of wages & Employers
contribute @ 4.75% of wages in a month

6 MAJOR BENEFITS of ESIC:
1. Medical Benefit :

a. Full medical care to an Insured person and his
family members from day 1.

b. No ceiling on expenditure of the treatment .

c. Retired and Permanently Disabled insured persons
and their spouses on payment of a annual premium
of Rs.120/- .


2. Sickness Benefit:

a. Sickness Benefit in the form of cash
compensation .

b. Rate @ 70 % of wages.

c. For certified sickness only, for a maximum of 91
days in a year.

d. Eligibility- Min. 78 days of work in a contribution
period of 6 months (Apr-Sept & Oct-Mar).

e. Extended Sickness Benefit & Enhanced Sickness
Benefit
3. Maternity Benefit:

a. For confinement/ pregnancy.

b. Payable for 3 months, which is extendable by further 1
month on medical advice.

c. Rate @ 100% of wages.

d. Eligibility- contribution for 70 days of work in the
preceding year.
4. Disablement Benefit:

a. Temporary disablement benefit- Rate @ 90% of
wage is payable so long as disability continues.

b. Permanent disablement benefit- Rate @ 90% of
wage in the form of monthly payment.

Depending upon the extent of loss of earning
capacity as certified by a Medical Board

5. Dependants' Benefit:

a. In cases death occurs due to employment injury.

b. Rate @ 90% of wage in the form of monthly payment.

c. Paid to the dependants of a deceased Insured person
6. Other Benefits:

a. Funeral Expenses- Upto Rs.10,000/- is payable to the
dependents to performs last rites.

b. Vocational Rehabilitation & Physical Rehabilitation.

c. Rajiv Gandhi Shramik Kalyan Yojana:

IP must be insured for three or more years

Unemployment Allowance equal to 50% of wage for a maximum
period of upto one year.

Medical care for self and family from ESI Hospitals/Dispensaries

Vocational Training provided for upgrading skills
